Shiv doesn't get back Killing Blow charge on Victor Kills

If you have Shiv ult at max level it is supposed to reset after a "finishing off an enemy" with the ultimate. I know if we want to get pedantic Victor technically wasn't killed, but this feels more like an oversight.

Again I know technically you haven't killed Victor, but you have done lethal damage. I would argue that should be considered a "Killing Blow" (ha)

Current behavior:
Using Max Level Killing Blow on Victor (who has Shocking Reanimation up) doesn't reward or reset Shiv's Killing Blow. It currently acts as if you used it on an enemy outside the instakill threshold or didn't instakill them — despite technically insta-killing Victor by inflicting lethal damage.

Expected behavior:
Using Max Level Killing Blow on Victor (who has Shocking Reanimation up) should reset Shiv's Killing Blow like any other kill. Alternatively it could be reset with more charge for the kill. (It currently resets back to 0%)

Also yes I know stuff like Trophy Hunter also doesn't proc on Victor kills if he reanimates, but that specifies "Score a Kill or Assist". Shiv's Ultimate suddenly not working in a teamfight because the targeting switched to Victor at the last second and then punishing the Shiv player for successfully landing the instakill (again it still is proc-ing the instakill effect as if it should count) by putting Killing Blow on max cooldown seems like unintended behavior.

as you mentioned im pretty sure its coded so that abilities/items like TC and talon owl on t3 dont give stacks on vic kill, for TC it does make sense since you would be able to get 2 stacks easily

This is 100% not intended and needs to be fixed.

Vindicta gets bonus souls for popping victor ult. Talon gets bonus spirit power. Healbane gets triggered. All of these also trigger on popping rejuv. The only exception is shiv ult, which refreshes on rejuv but not victor passive.

As far as trophy collector, that's not triggered on rejuv, so it makes sense its not triggered on victor ult.

Some additional info proving this is a bug:

Tthere's two kinds of kill triggers: on kills, and "did they die"

On kills trigger when you directly kill someone (vin snipe, drifter direct kill, etc). These work on victor ult

"did they dies" trigger if they die within a certain window. these don't work on victor ult bc he didnt actually die when the game checks (which is the bug, it needs to check "did he die or go into a dying state")

Shiv is a did they die effect, because the game checks if they die either before the ult or when it lands (letting allies finish them off for shiv and still give him credit)

The big thing that confirms its a bug (at least in my eyes) is graytalon owl. it has both an on kill effect (the bird directly) and a "did they die" for giving you credit if someone kills them up to 3 seconds after. Meaning... GT gets spirit power if bird pops vic ult, but doesnt get it if bird puts him to 1 health then GT shoots him once to pop it.

There's no way that this is intended for GT, so it makes sense it's not intended for Shiv. At the very least, it would make sense to give shiv an on kill effect so if his ult is the one that finishes victor off, he would get his ult back. This would at least make it consistent among everyone.

What works on Victor Shocking Reanimation:
Bebop Bombs, Mo and Krill Ult, Grey Talon Ult, Drifter Bloodscent, Vindicta ult, Glass Cannon, Silver Ult (edit)

What does not work:
Trophy Collector, Shiv Ult

Seems very inconsistent even with the items, like how does Glass Cannon gives stacks but Trophy Collector doesn't.

(All tested in sandbox)

I agree but this requires a developer to finally give context, the fact that its been in this long and is such an obvious interaction between the characters does lead people to believe it's intentional.

Yeah, but with how inconsistent it is with other things in the game, it's reasonable to say that it also may be an edge case they haven't noticed too. The obvious example that shows this is with Cheat Death.

Cheat Death is worded in a way that implies it happens BEFORE you would actually die from lethal damage, which would then make sense why the killing blow wouldn't count. Victor's Reanimation is worded as happening AFTER you deal lethal damage. Despite Victors Ult being worded to imply you are actually inflicting the killing blow before it triggers, both do not reset your ult cooldown as Shiv.

Also, more importantly is Vindictas Ult. She still gets a stack from procing Victors Ult, but not cheat death... So then... again why is activating reanimation considered a killing blow for her but not Shiv???1771351543556.png

I think if Valve wanted this is to be intentionally they would have just reworded Shiv Ultimate by now to be honest. With how inconsistent it is within the context of everything it seems like an oversight.
