On another note: If we actually come up with great diegetic mechanics for the Hero, I think the likelihood of it actually getting into the game are greatly increased.

Have him "cast" magic words while preforming non-magical actions like throwing a grenade, as he can not actually use magic despite being a "wizard".

This is so fucking hilarious.
He shouts "FIREBALL" and throws a molotov. :D

Adding to this. His skillnames could also all be classical wizard spell names.
Fireball -> Molotov
Lightning Bolt -> using a taser
Levitation -> using a jetpack
Magic Missile -> rocket launcher

Honestly would be kind of funny to make him the "soldier" and give him rocketjumps on an ability.

Wizard content is based. I do wonder how a wizard could look in this game. The concepts that come to mind for me all involve kit/abilities that focus on augmenting or imbuing existing weapons. While chucking spells directly at people is neat, I feel chucking a spell on my gun/stave (or those of my team) to change attack style/damage type/etc might be interesting.
