Repeated Disconnect Issue

I was playing with some friends when a thunderstorm rolled through my area, which took my internet in and out repeatedly for about 20 minutes. During this time, I was able to reconnect but was booted as my connection dropped again multiple times, probably around 7-8 times in total. Eventually, the storm cleared, I rejoined the match with my friends, and finished it out. When we went to play another one, I had been banned from matchmaking from the time it happened (around 8 PM CST) until 2:30 AM. My best guess is that it counted each loss of internet connection as a separate match abandon, but it's odd it let me reconnect with no issue and finish the game before banning me from playing.
