"reconnect" button does not load player back into match

Issue: After a match is found, the player never loads into the pre-game lobby where the character is shown, selecting the reconnect button to join does nothing and user is forced to abandon the match and take a penalty or sit there infinitely

Repro:
1. Queue a match
2. A match is found and either the game crashes, or the loading screen that is meant to take you to see which character is selected sends you back to the lobby instead
3. "Match in progress", is shown in the top left of UI
4. Pressing escape allows the user to either abandon or reconnect
5. Selecting reconnect starts the loading in process
6. User DOES NOT LOAD IN and is back in the lobby
7. Repeating step 5 always results in step 6
8. Selecting "Abandon" resolves the stuck loop, but user takes a penalty

Reconnecting and crashing issues have increased since mid March and after multiple forced penalties it turns players off of continuing to play the game if they are penalized for being forced to abandon matches due to connection bugs.

Troubleshooting:
- Reinstalled both steam and deadlock
- Hardware and software are up to date
- Steam files validated
- Network is not blocking or set to a bad region

Some things I have noticed is that being active like pressing buttons and jumping in the lobby causes issues more often than standing still and waiting for the game.

A 2 hour ban for a bug that is not my fault is killing my desire to play the game

Workaround: after this occurring a few more times and from other comments, some users report that hard closing the game and reloading will sometimes allow the user to reconnect to the game, but it is not guaranteed

I also experienced this same issue twice, and it got my account banned 3 days ago.

Me and multiple of the people I play with have had this occur to us, and queued into games that don't start since it is happening to people who would've been on the enemy team. I don't think any of us have been banned for it though

Teammate was randomly chosen as the user who "dodged" even though none of us selected Abandon, they recieved a 14min penalty

Characters select screen displays, then in lobby with no way to join.

Received temp-ban as a result of the bug.

I just experienced this now. So infuriating. Legit no warning out of no where disconnected mid game WITH MY INTERNET STILL WORKING AND ALL MIND YOU but still not ebing able to reconnect. Now I am banned till tomorrow. Thank god I have another account because this game doesnt have a casual mode so I made one for that specifically.

Seems the MM will find a match, then wont let you load in and says "match in progress" but wont let you rejoin. This is before the game even starts mind you. What the hell is going on?

Only way I was able to solve this was by quitting the game and then relaunching. By doing this, you won't get banned and can re-join the game as normal, although it takes a one or two game resets sometimes.

Bump, sometimes this issue can be resolved by restarting the game several times, however, more often that does not it doesn't resolve it. Checking console logs, the server itself stopped sending packets making it so its not possible to rejoin.

I am experiencing a similar issue, but i was disconnected from a game in progress, and I am being asked to rejoin long after the game I disconnected from is already over
