Ranking System?

I just finished my first week, and I won about 80-90% of my ranked games, usually winning the laning phase and maintaining a high K/D/A. I ended up at Initiate 2 :ROFLMAO:

Does everyone start with a low rank in the first week, no matter how well they perform in calibration? How does the calibration and ranking system work?

Pretty sure game takes your non ranked mmr into account and bases your enemies on this so if you're pretty new you will end up with lobbies with other newbies which will translate into lower rank.

Also take note that kda is kinda pointless here especially in first 10 mins of game where rewards for kills are neglible and respawn times are short.

Ranked is seeded from your unranked MMR. There aren't actually any calibration matches, you just need a minimum of seven matches to get your rank calculated for that week. If your win rate is really that high you should climb out of Initiate fast.

Your MMR in normal matches influences your ranking. It doesn't matter if you won all ranked matches; if your MMR in normal games is low, your rank will be low as well.

Play more games, and you will climb quickly provided that you can maintain that high winrate. A few hints: walkers are very important, you'll turn around more solo lanes where you lose guardian early if you freeze the wave (only attacking troopers in the flashy death state in order to push the wave slower), and it's a lot easier to capture mid boss off a single pick in the mid game than it is to capture it later.

Makes sense, thanks

If you didn't play well in unranked, then you get the same opponents in the ranked with whom you played in unranked. Like rating system in CoD

does this mean that someone could play 1 ranked and throw 5 unranked to force a high winrate? (or force a lower level match) or that would mean he would be low rank too because it counts unranked too?
