Ranking score increasing while offline

so I've been jumping around ranks for a while now, but for around a week and a half I've been in archon and have been steadily rising in the ranks. The problem is that I only see it go up the next time i get back on. I've been on a 6 game losing streak and I have risen two ranks overnight, literally.
I even asked folks in two of the 6 games I lost and no one knows what I'm talking about.

It should be clear why it does that - it could be a global leaderboard reshuffling going on. It seems buggy.

apparently it’s not a bug? People have been ranking up a lot recently due to new players joining deadlock. I somehow gone from oracle to phantom 6 when though I didn’t play standard match for a while
