Rank not changing — stuck at the same skill rating

Hi.

I’ve run into an issue where my rank does not change at all — it neither increases nor decreases, it just stays the same.

Here are my details:

  • Total games played: 124
  • Wins: 60
  • Current rank remains unchanged for a long time
  • I usually play in a party with friends
Even after multiple wins in a row, my skill rating does not go up. At the same time, it also doesn’t go down after losses — it seems completely frozen.

Is this a known bug, or is there some hidden mechanic that could explain why rank progression is not working?

I’ve attached screenshots showing match history and stats.

Thanks in advance for any help.

meanwhile i'm a dumbass who is bad at the game, who has played and lost 2 standard games in the last month (playing mostly street brawl), and somehow i've still risen up to arcanist. something feels very wrong with the ranking system

At the current state if ranked I would suggest save your nerves and energy and just ignore it - it is completely useless!

My ranked for first 100? hours of the game was seemingly frozen -> I improved, learned the basics, added more heroes to my pool, had some better games but also bad games / threw some games because totally animal like teammates -> my ranked kept going up seemingly just because I allocated time for the game.

In many cases after checking stats or game review to report players I glanced over to ranked and it kept going up even after losing streak!

Meanwhile as megathread in forums show - matchmaking actually becomes worse as you progress. If at nub level everyone is nub and games are just overall bad but fair for all players as they bad -> as soon as you level up 1-2 ranks you start getting these totally extreme 50/50 games where you either roll over other team or get rolled by them, rarely I have had a streak of games where it was 50/50 and really interesting game.
Maybe this was affected by major update / since you no longer are prompted to vote how fun game was after it ends.

So yeah I just focus on "what I can do better" and ignore outcome of the game(s) (given matchmaking is totally broken) and especially ranked rating.

Hope Valve fixes both as for me (competitive minded player) current system is semi motivating just because game is new and kinda cool. Yet if there will be no real competitive mode I am sure I will get fed up with this one and just quit - not the type of player who just randomly grinds pubs via running and gunning.

p.s. another thing that seems the be broken - team overall ranking? Like one you see in summary page on top of each team. In many cases my rank is either way above or way below the team rank and there is no correlation to actually how hard / easy game actually was. So that one is off as well.

It seems that this average rank has too much influence on your personal rating. I often noticed that when the average rank was significantly higher than mine (2-4 stars higher), I received promotions for 1-2 wins, but if the rank was lower or about the same as mine, I didn't receive a promotion even for 10 wins in a row.

Riot / Valorant has similar system and as far as most rumors say it only takes into account "team average" skill to create matches which leads to most popular abuse of:

a) play 5 stack with one member being uber higher level than the rest = he/she will just 1v5 everyone basically or hard-carry
b) create smurf accounts and stack with lower ranked profiles in combo = super bad experience for new players

But to be fair from latest games it does not even seem that current Deadlock matchmaking works in terms of average team skill... just now had a game where two people were clearly in a party + did advanced movement.
Rest of the team did not fall much behind, they had really good teamwork.

While my team I was only one with positive K/D 7 and 4, 3 people had no clue what to do, one play on Page was pushing lanes alone all game, guess the result = 0 and 17, <1k healing.

Maybe game though that I need to drop like 30 bomb and carry the game while I spent last 5 games losing while learning how to play Mirage :D

Been stuck in initiate II since I started playing. I won 13 of 16 matches and didn't even climb to Initiate III.
This has to be bugged.

Then is region or whatever based. For the past month or so I invested like 100+h into the game and content, started winning or when losing be top 1/2 on my team = instantly my rank started to grow reaching Alchemist 5 over these past few weeks. And most of time was spent in Alchemist rank, I almost did not play as Seeker, maybe for a few days / one week top.

Also now after facing terrible matchmaking and loads of hackers each game + trying to play Mirage = lost 6 out of 7 -> instantly dropped to Alchemist 3.

So something is working but all in all seeing people cheating in Alchemist...nah, too much for me -> quit. Already used my "hope" in Apex legends after investing 15k hours in the game, hoping they will get ahold of hackers ruling the game / matchmaking feeding me to pros -> never happened, based on latest 2 seasons = never will.
Not giving Deadlock my time for this benefit of a doubt. Either they fix it and I come back or another game joints the list of Overwatch, Apex and Finals (performance issues mostly) that I will never touch ever again.
