Power went out, got matchmaking banned even though I rejoined and finished the match and even won.

I don't know precisely how much time I was disconnected but if there is an option to reconnect and you do (which I did as it says in the title of this thread), it shouldn't ban you.

If you left for more than 5 minutes you'll get banned. is that your case ?
I managed to get back into the discord with my friends and they said the match was abandoned right on the dot as I rejoined the match. Still, I don't think you should get banned for something out of your control, more so especially if you rejoin the match and continue it.

It's how it works in dota as well. If you abandon games because of something, even if you rejoined and help the team win the game you get literally nothing. You lose MMR and you still get leaver penalty.

I feel like at the very least you shouldn't get leaver penalty if you reconnect and win, I'd argue you shouldn't even lose MMR if you win (but not gain mmr as well), but at the VERY LEAST you shouldn't get matchmaking ban.

Right now there's literally zero reason for me to be respectful to my team and reconnect to help them if I somehow got an abandon due to something out of my control

If I'm at a deficit due to a game crash, game bugs, IRL problems arising, and manage to continue winning in the game I've been put into and get told I should lose MMR by the game I'd be downright furious. I'm sure you can see how insane that is because you say you argue you shouldn't lose MMR.

You're very right in the fact that, what's the point in reconnecting if I'm being punished either way? There's no incentive to at all.

I'd argue, personally, that because of the above (being at a deficit) and still managing to pull yourself ahead and win the game with your team you should genuinely find yourself getting an MMR bonus of all things because despite being at a handicap you still won and pulled ahead.
