Platoon and Harvest - 2 hero ideas with art done by me

So before anyone judges me too hard for putting this much effort into this, this started as an excuse to do some character art. Thing is I get easily drawn into this kind of project and I ended up putting in much more effort than what these ideas are really worth. It just came to a point where I couldn't really just not finish them or I'd feel bad.

Anyway I hope it's an enjoyable thing to look at at the very least because I'm not doing one of these again, at least in a long while (I also have a couple dota2 ones in the backburner that I restrained myself from doing a about 3 months ago lol)

I don't like harvest's as much, but thats more so because of Im aware of the deadlock's community's seemingly weird obsession certain....body features. Anyways, I think you could get rid of the immunity on entrench, and instead just have a Spirit shield that scales with the amount of illusions that join you (to try and combat the MASSIVE amount of spirit dmg youd be taking otherwise), Miasma sounds great if not for some balancing issues (I feel like an illusion on creep kill would be far too potent, maybe every third creep kill? or maybe keep it just for hero hits/kills) but that stuff's just nitpicking at this stage.

Harvest I feel is not as cohesive in her design, which isnt a bad thing per say not every character has to have a kit with abilities that complement each other fully, I do however think "pods" just wouldnt work, because theres absolutely nothing stopping folks from playing ultra passively and planting pods waaaaay behind the front line and try to farm that way. I think a techies like design could work with it where, it takes a while to bloom (IE like 5 seconds) and when it does it explodes when folks are near it, and if an enemy is hit it'd show on her mini-map, that way she could counter gankers, as well as have her 1 to detere them even further if they decide to go in anyways. I think a blink on an ult that can reset its own cooldown is a bit too potent, perhaps removing the blink and instead giving it more utility could work, like making it so that, if the ult hits a pod it will cause the explosion to stun folks hit by it, and we can keep the shorter cd that way.

Oh and to quote another thing you said "It's far too easy to end up with DMG Aoe Spells when trying to come up with stuff for this game, isn't it?"
Yeah! Almost all characters in this game have at the very least 1 aoe spell, and I think thats very intentionally done by the devs, other wise clearing waves/ camps becomes a HASSLE, and the only ones who dont have ones are designed NOT to clear waves/camps (as easily early on) IE Vindicta and haze who are supposed to perform better in the laning phase by either outranging folks or denying creeps with a well timed sleep/ way higher single target dmg (I didnt mention Mcginnis but she spawns turrets which in this case fill the same role as aoes, + her ult is one) and haze DOES have an aoe in her ult so it's actually only really Vindicta.

Oh and yeah you were right, Pumpkinhead is unironically the absolute peak of game design and makes the rest of both kits look terrible in retrospect xd.

Also I know you said you weren't gonna do this anytime soon but PLEASE reconsider, your art is beautiful to look at and you have some really cool ideas. (oh and sorry for writing a whole essay's worth of notes in a comment)

Anyway ty for the kind words, I don't mind the wall of text don't worry. I definitely stopped caring about the actual ideas after a certain point because I just wanted to be done with the whole thing, so it's not the most thoughtful stuff out there. I'm not gonna do proper game design + art unless someone offers me money haha, too much work.
Like I said, Harvest was originally meant to be more transformative of the map but I couldn't find a cool enough way to do that without also having horrible playstyles sneak in (I was thinking broodmother drom dota but with fields at one point). I think planting pods could be fine as long as it's a secondary option to the spell, I just wanted to convey the idea of farming stuff somehow even if it's not great (alternative ideas was 2 pod types, farming one taking 2 charges to cast). The ult def would be too strong with the refresh yeah haha

I think my current favorite skill set in the game is Kelvin. His Ice Path and ult are very cool "transformative" abilities and I know there's ways to do more stuff like that in this game, I just couldn't come up with any I felt confident on this time around.

fair enough! More terraforming spells would definitely be really cool, even if I do personally hate fighting kelvin with his slowing, disarming, infinite duration, brain numbing laser. I forgot to ask earlier, but could I possibly get a link for whichever platform you publish your art/concepts on? Thanks!

Not the greatest overall hero concept but I felt bad I didn't get that across in text

I really like both characters visually. Gameplay wise I especially like the harvest pods. Letting you shoot them as mines or getting a reward if you plant and harvest them safely sounds really fun to me. No idea if it's healthy but there must be some way to implement it lol. I hope she makes it in the game in some way!

Definitely my favorite hero suggestion and every day I think about them, I feel myself wanting to play as them in game. Platoon seems like a very fun way to put a summoning based hero into the game.

Messing around in the training room, we can see that the 'Yakuza' character can summon little ally goons to fight alongside them, so its not as though they wouldn't consider the idea viable seeing as they were testing it out.

Sorry to bump, idk if its against the rules to bump, but this thread is genuinely fantastic, as is the artwork alongside it.

Amazing work, and very inspiring. I hope that the devs will notice and think about it. I love the idea behind the hero, and would make sense in the lore imo.
