so I noticed that when my friend talks their voice gets picked up on my end when we are in a call, I am aware its me talking and being picked up in the screenshot just wanna show about ish what happened

Maybe your default -audio input device- might be virtual or the Steam recordings one?
If you are using windows:
-right click the speaker icon next to the hour/date (bottom right of your screen)
-then click "Audio settings" or something like that
-check your predefinied audio input and select your microphone as default if not selected
