I had a dream where Rem had an older brother called Nightmare who was like a fully grown Rem, 2000 years old or ancient, and he could turn into a horse. He was creepy and I think he was death incarnate.
To wax about the lore a bit: Whatever Rem is, exactly, he's some sort of entity related to sleep, I think. This character Nightmare would be his scary and unwelcome older brother. Characterization wise, I was thinking that despite looking pretty scary and sometimes coming off the wrong way, he is gentle and somewhat compassionate. Him and Rem love each other but Rem might be uncomfortable with death. In dialogue with others he might comfort Bebop about Shelly (maybe implying that she is expected to die), or say something to Holliday about the Troubador. He has a sense for who has died and what has happened, which may unsettle some heroes, while others just find it comforting.
As for gameplay: Nightmare is an overgrown giant Rem with horselike-qualities that functions as a mobile tank/support and anti-tank.
His 1 would be something like a hoof stomp, which heals him for %max health. Upgrades increase power, cooldown, and maybe the capstone adds charges.
His 2 would be a movement ability where he goes on all fours or shapeshifts into a more horselike form (whatever makes more sense design wise) and can gallop across the map, faster than Calico's 2, but without any sort of stealth. With upgrades, gives nearby allies a boost to their stamina. T3 could debuff enemies' stamina.
His 3 would be something like an innate siphon bullets, where he steals max HP from enemies. This could stack at its T3, but more akin to the "nice to have" stacks of health from Mo and Krill combo rather than the scaling of Bebop's bomb stacks.
His ultimate would have him turn into a pale horse, and someone could ride him and gain bullet and spirit resistance, temporarily gain the effects of his 3 (perhaps even including permanent max health from kills). It would be cool if nightmare would be the one moving around but I'm not sure if this is possible to do from a networking angle, so the rider could control him. At T3, this could gain an aura that reduces %max health of enemies in an aura surrounding the characters. This ability would be on a long-ish cooldown, probably lower than Dynamo ult.
I hope you found this interesting. If you put this character in you can say that they were revealed to you in a dream.
