Net Jitter Only on Deadlock

As of the minor update after the shop rework. I've been hit with massive net jitter resulting in:
- Large feedback delay
- Game stutter
- Rubberbanding
Which makes the game essentially unplayable

This issue is only happening with deadlock (not present in any other multiplayer game I am playing) and was non-existent for the entirety of the playthrough before the update.

Extra Details:
- Location: Sydney
- Avg Ping: 10-20ms
- Avg Net Jitter: 220-230ms
- Solutions Attempted: Reset Wifi, Reset Game, Blocked All Servers except Sydney

I believe this issue is the same as mine. Get total network freezes for about a second every few seconds. Doesn't feel like normal lag, as there's no input delay. Seems like my client is slow to receive information from the server, then things rubberband. Japan. Ethernet connection.

I got this too. This is the second time it has happened to me. I enabled the diagnostic setting that pulls up the graph of net jitter in game, and it appears that I'm getting just straight blocks of red every few seconds. This is out of the ordinary, especially since I typically play very early in the morning, so there shouldn't be any conflict here at home. I also have performed multiple tests and they all come back normal. It appears it is only happening in Deadlock.

I have also been experiencing the same thing recently (since this last patch). It is not consistent every game but it is recurring. When it does occur, the packet loss spikes to 30% or so every 10 seconds with a visible freeze in game. Downstream jitter shows massive red blocks while ping stays consistent at around 50. No network issues with any other game and issue still occurs even if I allow all traffic through.

Same here. Only seeing this problem with Deadlock.
  • Connection Type: Wired/Ethernet
  • Router: ASUS RT-AC3100
  • ISP: Spectrum, Austin, TX
  • Region: N America
  • Fixes Attempted:
    • Reset WiFi
    • Reset Game
    • Rebooted PC
    • Blocked All Servers except N America
    • Verified Game Files
    • Had ISP out to check and replace any faulty lines in home and check local nodes over the last month. Problem persists

Symptoms
  • The jitter I'm seeing is mostly on upload with fairly frequent light download jitter.
  • When it happens it's pretty severe for about a minute or two.
  • The upload and download jitter events do not appear linked from a player experience perspective, at least not based on the HUD networking graphs provided in game.

I have had the same issues and have called my ISP and found nothing wrong. But then I am starting to get jitters while playing Street Fighter 6. I wonder if its an issues with certain routers, I have a TPLink Archer AXE75.

I did a little bit more testing and found that while other games function totally fine, the jitter issue seems to occur in other Valve games like CS2 but to a much lesser extent (net graphs show similar red blocks occasionally). I am suspecting it could be an issue with connecting specifically to Steam servers or something with the Source2 engine. For others that are having this issue, is it only Deadlock or does it occur in other Valve games like in my situation? I also noticed that CS2 has the option to increase buffering to smooth packet loss, however Deadlock doesn't seem to have that feature yet unless I missed it. I think it would be a good addition to mitigate the issue in lieu of a fix: https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/5E6F-5B36-5485-F6B9.

i have been having this issue consistenly as well since i started playing, it got better with a patch in about may, but i am playing with an ethernet wifi extender so kind of wired kind of not, my speeds and ping are fine too
hopefully valve takes notice of this consistent issue
