Mystic Reverb doing more damage than triggering ability

I still don't quite understand this. If you don't mind helping me get it, I would appreciate it.

Mystic Reverb damage = initial damage [700] * .45 * EE multiplier [assuming 9]^2 * (1 + resist reduction [12] - initial resist [15]) / (1 - initial resist [15]))

That would be 3,645. I assume I'm missing something, probably having to do with the ^2 which to my mind reads squared.

I assumed it would be initial damage * .45 * EE multiplier * (1- sprit resist value)
which comes out to 700 * .45 * 1.36 * .97 or 428.4.

Doubled that's ~856 which is what the damage tracker showed, and why I thought reverb double proccing on lethal blows made sense (insomuch as that is a bug others have reported). That still doesn't account for EE being tracked separately in the damage tracker though. I'm still overall lost as to what the numbers here are doing.

Here are some tips:
  • You need to use decimals:
    • Resist reduction = 0.12, Initial resist = 0.15
  • EE multiplier is not the number of stacks you have:
    • EE multiplier = 1 + 0.04 * stacks. (if you have 10 stacks, your EE multiplier is 1.4)
  • If you are constantly re-applying the minus spirit resist portion of EE (which only has a 6s duration. The stacks have a 12s duration), then your initial and final spirit resist will be the same.
    • If this is the case, then remove the entire fraction from the equation (because the fraction will simply become 1/1 = 1).
  • The damage on your post-death screen is misleading. Notice how your post-death screen shows that escalating exposure dealt damage? Escalating exposure even got the killing blow.
    • When Yamato hit you with Power Slash, it would have dealt ~1000 damage to you. However the post-death screen breaks up that ~1000 damage into Power Slash (700 damage) + Escalating Exposure damage (~300 damage if you have 10 or so stacks)
    • Simply put, the Yamato's Power Slash did more than 700 damage to you. It only seems like 700 damage because the post-death screen breaks up that ~1000 damage in a misleading way.
    • That's the reason the ^2 exists in the equation. It is to "recombine" the 700 damage and the ~300 damage. (i.e. 700 * 1.4 = ~1000).
Hopefully intuitively you'll start to see that an 856 damage mystic reverb is far more understandable if the power slash actually dealt ~1000 damage.

Ive checked the replay. Its 100% a double proc. Only then the numbers add up.
Ive also checked with a bot in demo. Reverb procs twice every single time if its lethal.

Believe what you want.

Gonna +1 on this bug. Had Yamato kill me in 2 sec basically due to the reverb doing more damage than a power slash proc.

You would have died anyway. Reverb procs only twice if its lethal. The additional damage does nothing as you are already dead.
