My rank is (probably) bugged

Hello, I've been playing for 41 hours and I only play with a friend of mine. We never play by ourselves. Whenever I check, my rank is Initiate 2; however, my friend's rank is Emissary 6.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not but I'd like to know why I can't rank up or down while my friend is all the way at emissary 6

EDIT: I now have played 40 matches in total and I still can not rank up or down.
I also feel bad for the enemies since even they are aware that I don't belong to that rank, I have had people asking what I'm doing in that rank.
