Metal Skin blocking Spirit Damage

Metal skin blocks some instances of spirit damage for some reason, specifically Wraiths 3 and Vindictas 2. Both abilities grant you extra spirit damage on weapon hit.

I might have considered intentional if it wasnt for the fact that these are the only on hit spirit damage attacks it blocks.
It doesnt block the damage from
  • Seven 3
  • Tesla Bullets
  • Mystic Shot
  • Spirit Strike
It also doesn't block any other on hit application effect such as Infernus 3 or Siphon Bullets. It only affects those 2 abilities. It's not a huge deal as they are rarely the heros bread and butter but it does have some impact.

Might be due to how those are framed:
Both abilities (Wraith and Vindicta) read as "Spirit Damage per Bullet". And it is an effect that is always on, unlike Mystic Shot or Spirit Strike (which adds spirit damage after a cooldown for the first bullet) and does not proc off of the Bullet (Tesla/Seven).

Vindictas and wraiths tooltip says that their bullets deal bonus spirit damage. I dont see why that wording would indicate that the damage is blocked by Metal Skin.

Metal skin blocks no other spirit damage. You're basically saying its blocking the damage because the bullet is blocked. Wouldn't stacking effects like Infernus 3 then also be blocked?

Vindictas 2 says "X Spirit Damage Per Bullet"
Infernus 3 says "10% Buildup per bullet"

i honestly think on hits still being applied through metal skin is the bug, not that vindicatas doesn't. but their should be consistency in the behaviour at the very least

Soooo... is this intended or is it actually a bug? I don't see why metal skin should block spirit damage from these 2 abilities considering that Haze's new ultimate also shoots bullets with bonus spirit damage, yet only bullet damage gets blocked by metal skin.

The items description specifically says become immune to bullets, but for some reason effects that are only applied by bullets still apply, only some though it seems. this seems counter intuitive and greatly detracts from the value of metal skin. to me it feels like this should be considered a bug, but i understand the potential for such a change to make metal skin an extremely hard counter to certain characters. at the same time though metal skin can be played around, you can just bait them into using it and back off, its only 3.5 seconds of immunity, a curse or proper disable will prevent them from using it in the first place too. personally i think metal skin is just a bad item and updating its behaviour in regards to on hit effects would make it more worthwhile, as it is i would rather just buy :ethereal shift, warp stone, return fire, colossus, withering whip, phantom strike, or even just bullet armour to counter a bullet spam character.
