Madness caster inspired by Bloodborne insight mechanic

The character would at a base look fairly regular, perhaps a preacher or something, but as enemies are afflicted with insight from his abilities they begin to perceive him as something else, as well as his abilities becoming enhanced against those enemies.

I hadn't thought in detail about the weapon as it would likely be more of a caster character, but the weapon could potentially evolve against insane enemies as well.


Ability 1 : Corruption
Launch a bolt of mysterious energy that travels in a straight line, pierces, inflicts an insight stack, and deals 70 (spirit scaling) damage.
18s cooldown. Charged ability.

(8+ insight) : Whatever the bolt comes in contact with will cause a 4m corrupted puddle AoE for 4s that reduces movement speed by 20%, and spirit resistance by 10% for 3s on contact
(15+ insight) : Every 2s, enemies in 6m of any puddle will be struck by a spectral tentacle dealing 50 (spirit scaling) damage and inflicting 1 insight.


(1AP) : +1 charge
(2AP) : -4s cooldown and +1 insight afflicted on direct hit.
(5AP) : The projectile gains +40% speed and will ricochet when it hits an 8+ insight enemy.



Ability 2 : Planewalker
Enter a different plane for up to 4s, increasing movement speed by 25% and causing different interactions with enemies depending on their insight.

(7 or less insight) : You and the enemy cannot target each other with abilities.
(8+ insight) : You and the enemy deal and take 40% damage from each other.
(15+ insight) : The enemy deals full damage to you, but you deal 25% bonus damage to them.

(1AP) : +20% movement speed
(2AP) : 70% damage dealt to 8+ insight enemies and 15+ insight enemies deal 80% damage instead of full.
(5AP) : +1.5s duration and walking through an enemy extends the duration by 1s and inflicts 3 insight stacks (2s cooldown)



Ability 3 : The Truth
(Passive) Dealing ability damage inflicts stacks of insight on enemies which last up to 9s, and cause their perception of you and your abilities to warp, enhancing their effects against enemies that can perceive the changes. Insight stacks up to 15 at base and you gain +2% final ability damage for every stack of insight on them.

(active) Open your book and begin speaking the truth, reducing movement speed by 30% and restricting the use of your gun, causing enemies in 10m to gain 1 insight stack every second.

(8+ insight) : +5m base range and the movement speed reduction also applies to affected enemies, and muffled gameplay audio except for his whispers.
(15+ insight) : +45 (spirit scaling) damage per second to affected enemies in range, and muted gameplay audio except for his whispers.

(1AP) : +3s stack duration
(2AP) : Cleansing effects or the duration running out halves the number of insight stacks instead of losing them all while above 5 stacks
(5AP) : +5 max insight stacks, enemies at 20 insight will be visible through walls by your team, and will receive 25 (spirit scaling) damage per second while in your direct LoS.



Ability 4 : Mind Flayer
Afflict an enemy in 8m with an eldritch parasite for 8 seconds that doubles the amount of insight stacks gained on the target, as well as inflicting 1 insight every 3s and dealing 20 (spirit scaling) damage per second.
115s cooldown

(8+ insight) : +20 damage per second
(15 insight) : Break the targets mind, dealing 140 (spirit scaling) damage and cursing them for 2s, cleansing their insight 1s after the curse.


(1AP) : -15s cooldown
(2AP) : +1.2m cast range for every insight stack on target and +1.5s curse duration
(5AP) : If the target dies during the effect, add 2s to the duration and jump to the nearest enemy in cast range.
