There are a lot of ways to sneak in heavy melees in this game, like hiding them behind skill visuals, baiting people around blind corners, or just ambushing enemies. None of these work at higher levels though since people can parry by sound, forcing you to bait parry even when you initiate with an advantage. A silent melee item would allow for more creative melee play without invalidating the counterplay or buffing players who over rely on it.
Notes:
- These effects are in order of how sure I am of them, dash canceling could be either too good or totally unnecessary, idk
- I have no clue what bonus stats to give this, but probably not melee damage since that's already high
- This could work as an upgrade to melee charge, just adding its existing effects. If not, bump it down to 1,250
Let me know what you think. I know melee doesn't really need a buff right now, but getting parried be someone who can't see you sucks
Skillful Strike | 3,000 Weapon Item |
Bonus Stats: ??? |
- Silences Heavy Melees (keep visual effect, so players are still punished for heavy melee when the opponent is aware) - Reduce light melee lockout (to encourage combos with the debuffs it can give, shouldn't allow faster consecutive light melees) - Allow canceling heavy melee with a dash (wouldn't give momentum like HMC, more for use as a better feint than turning at the cost of stamina) |
