Note:
I wanted to create a high-skill ceiling character that is very similar to Invoker but I came to the understanding that the developers probably want a lower skill ceiling than Dota's. IMO The core issue with Invoker, is memorizing each spell and then advancing to combos. While this is super cool, the skill ceiling for this hero is the highest ever seen in a MOBA. I offer a solution in the term of cycling through sets of 3 spells via Spellbooks; no need to memorize each spell anymore. While this hero would still be a high skill ceiling hero in Deadlock, I think it would be much more approachable for the average player.
Lore:
Long before the Baxter Society, there was The Contentum. For a thousand years, its sorcerers were containing the deadliest monsters known to man. They were feared, respected, and above all—secret.
As the centuries passed and the monsters grew scarce, the Contentum’s members grew careless. They flaunted their power. They revealed ancient spells to servants. Some even abused their powers for petty indulgences—like making a horse run faster to win a bet.
Magnus saw it all. A prodigy born into their ranks, he had studied every book, every rune, every incantation. And the stronger he became, the more he despised what the order had become.
One night, Magnus acted. When dawn broke, the Contentum's halls were silent, its libraries empty, and all its masters snuffed out by Magnus’ hand. Even the Ignis Eternum himself was no match. It took a mere week for Magnus to finish what he started. The field agents, hidden in every state capital, were hunted down one by one. When the last was gone, so too was the Contentum.
Since then, Magnus has walked alone. He swore an oath that no men would ever again wield the power he now guards. May these ancient secrets would die with him. Long live the Magnus Eternum, the last Grandmaster.
Gameplay:
The Magnus Eternum has access to a total 9 unique abilities. 3 interchangeable abilties and the ultimate is "Switch Spellbook" which cycles between 3 sets of 3 abilities. (Maybe allow players to bind specific spellbooks to custom keys?)
You can only cast 1 ability before you have to switch Spellbook.
An upgrade can allow you to cast 2 abilties before having to switch Spellbook. (AP Upgrade)
Devastation Spellbook: (Damage)
1.Annihilation Blast: Channel a devastating blast over 3 seconds - and then fire it towards your crosshair. This knocks back heroes caught in the blast. You can cast other spells while this channels.
2.Cosmic Flare: (SUNSTRIKE) Global. Brings down a devastating blast from above, dealing a burst of spirit damage in an infinite vertical area of the map. You can use your map to cast it or cast it nearby like a skillshot via alt cast.
3.Gravity Leak: Summons a well in an AoE. After 2 seconds, any enemies still in the AoE will be pulled to the center and will take damage.
Arcanum Spellbook: (Set-up)
4.Saturnic Tornado: Fires a gust of wind towards the crosshair that knocks up enemies in a vertical path.
5.Mystic chains: Hurls a pair of mystic chains towards the crosshair, stunning the first enemy hit for 0.5 seconds (Used to deflight)
6.Mystic Veil: Summons a short wall of mystic energy that slows down enemies who attempt to walk through it. Projectiles pass through normally. This act's like a Veil meaning Veilwalker triggers with it.
Phantasmal Spellbook: (Utility)
7.Mystic Flight: Allows 3D movement for a duration.
8.Astral Projection: Conjures an astral projection. Your body remains behind and vulnerable. This projection can be destroyed via a light punch only. You will be able to cast 1 spell before having to return to your body.
9.Disarming Gaze: Launches a special projectile towards the crosshair, if it hits an enemy, summons a static clone of the Magnus Eternum at where he stands. If the enemy is in Line of Sight with the clone, he will be disarmed. The clone has 10% of the Magnus Eternum's max health.
Thanks for reading. I feel like some of the abilities here can be improved or replaced and if you have any ideas please feel free to post them here.
