I'm not sure if this is a bug but it seems unintentional - pocket ult in boss pit

The entire enemy team is in our boss pit and I have ult as pocket. I dove into the center and popped my ult and I watched it whiff on everyone in the vicinity despite at the very least infernus being clearly in the aoe. I am not sure if my patron blocked my ult or the little lip/ring where the patron floats above blocked it. It was a strange interaction. I'm not upset because we weren't going to win that game even if my ult landed but I hope some people see it and can give a second opinion
