Lore: The Sasquatch people of North America were near extinct before the opening of the Astral Gates and their situation did not improve afterward. The secretive gentle giants, already pushed to the brink attempting to hide from the march of industrial society, now faced brand new predators who were even harder to shake. In humanity’s efforts to contain these eldritch horrors, the first “Bigfoot” was found dead, half-eaten in a Dimensional Shambler’s makeshift hovel. Unrecognized by Ixian biologists and supported by Salish folklore, the creature was declared a protected species by the American and Canadian governments and sent agents, notably those from the newly formed Baxter Society, to have them tracked down and confined for their own protection. While the primitive ape-men had been saved from utter annihilation, they found themselves prisoners in their own lands and forced to adapt to a world they had been adamant not to participate in.
Snarrg-Bruth-Ggr-Mub-Ggr-Mub-Eek-Eek-Wwud-Rouf-Ob-Hrrn-Ugg (“Smiling Child of Daughter-Swamp, Born of Moss Back and Wide Arms” in the Squatch language) or “Swampy the Skunk Ape” as most Floridians call him, is one such Sasquatch. A resident of the Everglade Reserve, the jovial giant was far more extroverted than the rest of his kind and became popular with both locals and tourists for his pleasant demeanor, guided tours of the swamp land, and retellings of Sasquatchian oral history and disliked among his peers for these same reasons. Feeling alienated from his people, but nevertheless loving of them, he left his ancestral swamp promising to find some way of uplifting their people.
His local fame helping him obtain permission from State authorities to travel out of state and signing a contract with a traveling vaudeville troupe, he traveled all the way to New York as an Entertainer. Though he made a decent living and raised interest in the stories of the Sasquatch, he knew he was little more than a glorified clown and nothing he could do could truly help his people. That is, before he learned of The Patrons.
