I have an idea for a hero who's as the title says, a crooked OSIC curator who smuggles magical artifacts and items on the black market, who's fighting in the ritual as part of a plea bargain after they got caught for (some) of their crimes.
Their weapon is a close-range electrothrower made from a lightning staff held in a magitech rig letting it be wielded like a flamer from Fallout 3 that shoots blue electricity (to differentiate its electricity from Seven's visual effects) in a short cone in front of it, so it functions like Pyro's flamethrower from Team Fortress 2. The electricity fired from the weapon can hit multiple enemies at once (but cannot headshot), the fire rate is the tick rate for its damage, and it has an alt-fire that makes it shoot a single zap (functioning like a "normal" gun) but at a slow fire rate and consuming multiple units of ammo with each shot. I specifically considered this because most hero weapons currently in the game shoot a bullet of some variety and thus prioritize aiming, whereas with a "flamethrower" type weapon like this it would prioritize positioning and would be good for players who have trouble aiming precisely under pressure or other reasons.
Their abilities:
1) Thunderwave Wand
Fire a short-ranged conical blast of powerful wind in the direction you're aiming that does a tiny amount of Spirit Damage, strong Knockback to enemies hit (scales with distance to player), and destroys projectiles (both ability and weapon).
2) Holy Jar of Healing
After a short wind-up, heal yourself for a decent amount instantly and heal allies in a small radius around you for the same amount but over a duration.
3) Orb of Confusion
Throw a grenade that pulls enemies in its radius towards it, slows and silences them for a very short duration.
4) Hand of Xerxes
Target an area to summon a phantasmal fortress wall that blocks enemy movement, projectiles and effective ability line of sight (Seven's Storm Cloud, Lady Geist's Life Drain, etc.) Allies can freely move and shoot through this wall (including troopers). Enemies beside the wall when it is summoned take damage, are knocked away and stunned for a tiny duration.
Image is a rough idea of how I imagined they looked like, which I made by kitbashing stuff onto the Resident Evil 4 merchant using Photoshop. A sleazy fellow in a big coat and plague doctor mask carrying a backpack loaded with magical artifacts and trinkets; basically a TTRPG Artificer in Deadlock. Apologies if it looks awful, I'm terrible at art.
I'm not 100% on the abilities but I would like them all to be themed after magical artifacts they're carrying around in their pockets and they shout the name of them when they use them. I'm very open to suggestions about my idea, so please feel free to share your thoughts with me.
