So I figured I'd come here and post an idea that's been floating around my head for a bit for this character.
Vudu was born and raised in the South, where the spirits reside. He had never considered leaving, until a renewed group of anti-occultists found him, killed his family, and destroyed his home. Having heard that some very powerful spirits recently moved into New York, ones who could bring back not just the bodies of the dead, but their spirits. Maybe, if he could only find them. . .
Gun: Hex Stick
Ammo: Low
Fire Rate: Semi-Auto (Similar to Geist)
Fires purple bolts of energy
Special: His secondary fire charges his weapon (over some time between 1-2 seconds), causing his next shot to consume additional ammo, dealing additional Gun damage and some small Spirit Damage. Increased Fire rate reduces the charge time on this effect.
Skills:
1: Vexing Lure: Vudu reaches out and corrupts the target's luck, causing all hostile enemies around them to target only them. This also causes reanimated Souldiers to chase and attack the affected target. At higher ranks, the duration of the effect increases, the first attack from each unique enemy deals additional spirit damage, and reduces damage dealt by the afflicted to enemies close to the afflicted target.
2: Reanimate: Call a candle souldier to aid you. The souldier follows you mimicking your movement and will perform melee attacks against against enemies who approach you. Souldiers will leash back to you (approximately 15m leash). At higher ranks, the melee attacks will deal additional spirit damage, gain additional charges, and at one rank will allow them to parry a moment after you perform a parry (Long CD on this effect, 25-40 seconds as appropriate).
3: Life sap: Your charged shots now drain the life of the target hit and those around it for a short (2-4 seconds base) time. This can be applied to friendly units, though it doesn't deal damage to friendly units. A friendly unit with this effect on it regenerates health based on the damage dealt. Upgrades increase the radius, duration, and Life regained for friendly units.
4: Cursed Doll: Vudu puts out a cursed doll of the targeted hero. The doll is considered an enemy to Vudu and a portion of any damage dealt to the doll is also dealt to the enemy, so long as the enemy remains in range of the Doll. At higher ranks the Cooldown of the doll is dramatically reduced, the doll is spawned with negative Bullet and Shield resist, and the total health of the doll increases and gains scaling based on Vudu's Spirit.
So I took some concepts from a few different heroes from other MOBAs for this one (specifically, Puppet Master from HoN for his ult and Demented Shaman from the same game for inspiration for his heal). I think he'd be fun to play and I intentionally tried to make sure his abilities had strong thematic aspects and synergy.
