[Hero Concept] - The Patron's Champion (Hero + Abilities based on which side you're on)

The Patron's Champion


This hero idea isn't as detailed or hero defined as most others. That is because this concept is rather a skeleton that can be molded, and sculpted in to something special. So I've broken down the ideas in to idea avenues of what the hero could potentially be.

The hero would be one selection in draft, and loading in determines which Champion you are. It could range from just visual changes to completely different ability kits for each Champion.​




Concept:

  • Hero that changes based on which patron they're trying to summon.


Idea avenues for the lore:

  • The patron managed to create an Avatar of sorts, or blessed someone (sliver of the Patron's power), with the goal of assisting towards releasing themselves.

  • A devout follower of a Patron which the Patron took notice of (The Heroes could be two rival cultists/gangs. Killed rival before ritual)


Idea avenues for the gameplay:

  • Hero's abilities scale based on which side they're on. Gun/Melee Damage for Hidden King, Spirit Damage for Archmother (keeping a colour scheme of gun orange/spirit purple)

  • Hero's ability kit changes based on which side they're on (2 heroes in one, not literally like Sinclair).


Idea avenues for the Weapon:

  • The weapons for the heroes can be paired/opposites to each other (Ebony & Ivory from Devil May Cry)

  • Could be the same weapon, but evolved differently (Based on patron's influence)


Idea avenues for the Ability Kits:

  • HK Champion's abilities can be based on inflicting direct damage (Venator/Haze)

  • AM Champion's abilities can be based on DOT (Geist/Infernus)
