Deadlock is filled with various references to different places of the 1950s, New York City being the main backdrop to the game. So I think it would be a very missed opportunity to not have a character represent New York City's Butchers and Deli's.
For now, we can call this character The Butcher. Below you'll find some basic ideas for The Butcher.
Ability 1: "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" :
Level 1: The Butcher tosses a wad of meat at the target. If the target is hit, the target is afflicted with the Rotten Status, and starts to attract more enemy creeps that deal increasing damage.
Level 2: This ability's duration is increased,
Level 3: Upon hitting an enemy player, the meat wad explodes upon contact. Any enemy players within a 2m range also become afflicted with the Rotten Status.
Ability 2: "Smoked and Cured" :
Level 1: The Butcher tosses cured meats to ally players. Ally players that eat the Butcher's Meat become invisible for a small duration and at low health gain an increase to their health regeneration.
Level 2: Players gain a walking speed increase.
Level 3: Players gain increase spirit and bullet resistance.
Ability 3: "The Sub" :
Level 1: The Butcher conjures a sandwich they can eat. Depending on which stat is the highest they gain the following effect.
Health: The Butcher gains increased movement speed, bullet, and spirit resistance.
Weapon: The Butcher's weapon gains the permanent ability to inflict the Rotten Status.
Spirit: The Butcher's 1st and 2nd ability cool downs decrease significantly.
This ability does not change based on increased levels.
Ability 4, ULTIMATE: "CARVE EM UP" :
During this ability, the Butcher rushes in flailing their arms around and slashing at nearby enemies.
Level 1: Enemies already inflicted with the Rotten status are slowed.
Level 2: Enemies not inflicted with the Rotten status become inflicted.
Level 3: When enemies with the Rotten status are killed from the ability, heal all ally players within 3 meters based on a percentage of final health the killed enemy had.
This was a sort of spur-of-the-moment / stream-of-consciousness idea. If you have any sort of critiques or refinements you would like to see for this character, let me know in the replies!
