This is a Hero Design for a Merchant character designed to have the opposite playstyle to Rem. He is designed to have good weapon and spirit scailing so that both builds are equally viable, but play completely differently. The goal is to achieve a similar gameplay loop to Bounty Hunter from Dota 2, promoting not getting caught and passively generating more gold for himself while hindering the enemies' economy.

Character Design Concept:

Skitters is heavily inspired by Kobalds from DnD, taking on the likeness and way of talking. He is clothed in merchant wear, with a mask covering his face and eyes, a very distinctive Hat and a backpack half his size.

Background Concept:

Skitters is a merchant who while not understanding them, has become quite efficient at collecting magical artefacts and objects. He is frequently mentioned by the Curiosity Shop as 'competition', though its revealed that due to his way of talking most of his sales are a result of pitty and not good salesmanship. He has a pet infant beholder in his backpack named 'Chomp Chomp'.

Class Design Concept:

Weapon - Boomstick:

- Skitters has a one magazine flintlock pistol. The number of bullets per reload cannot be increased, but Bullet Damage scales with Magazine Size
- Base Bullet Damage = 22
- Reload Time = 1.3 Seconds
- Bullet Fall off Range = 10ft - 35ft
- Bullet Velocity = 800m/s

Ability 1 - Chomp Chomp:

This would have a similar functionality to Silver's A1 while in her ult. The pull back isn't meant to be substancial, but rather a movement cancel similar to Paradox's A3.

Skitter's lower's his head and a beholder's face appears from inside his backpack, chomping at nearby enemies and pulling them towards him.
  • Chomp base damage is 160
  • Chomp base cooldown is 18 seconds
  • Base pull back distance is 2ft
  • Chomp cone and pull back distance increased with expansion increases
  • Chomp Damage scales with weapon damage
  • Chomp base range is 8ft
T1 Upgrade: +40 damage
T2 Upgrade: -8 second cooldown
T3: Increased scailing and now 40% slows targets hit

Ability 2:

This is Skitter's consistent spirit damage for spirit builds.

Skitters brings from his pocket a magical trinket which fires small magical bolts out of it.
  • Base cooldown is 22 seconds
  • Fires 2 projectile per second of the channel
  • Base channel time of 2 seconds
  • Base Damage per projectile of 45 (Spirit Scailing)
T1 Upgrade: +1 second duration
T2 upgrade: now fires 2 projectiles per second
T3: Increased spirit scailing and -7 second cooldown

Ability 3:

This is the 'opposite playstyle to Rem' i mentioned earlier

With similar controls to Rem's helpers, Skitters is able to magically imbue an object on the map to do the following:

- Turn a Sinner into a Mimic:
  • This takes a Base duration of 3 seconds to be imbue, and is visibly being imbued for this duration
  • Once imbued, the Sinner's souls will be invalidated, not going to Skitters or the collector.
  • Enemy players who atempt to melee the sinner are stunned for a base duration of 4 seconds and take 200 Spirit damage.
  • Once the mimic has dealt damage it disapears.
  • Ally players can see which sinners are mimics at all times
  • Rem Minions who atempt to collect souls from mimics aren't successful and take additional time to return to Rem.
Neutral Curiosity Shop (T2 Upgrade):
  • Disables the curiosity shop for a base duration of 1 minute
  • Enemies who enter the neutral curiosity shop room cause the 2 stairway entrances to be blocked off for a base duration of 20, forcing them to leave through the hole in the ceiling or take the teleport. After this has triggered the duration of the disable continues.
  • Rem's helpers who atempt to buy from the shop aren't successful and return back to Rem.
- base cooldown is 120 seconds

T1 Upgrade: Increased damage and duration of stun for mimic
T2 Upgrade: Skitter's can now use this ability to disable to neutral curiosity shop
T3 Upgrade: Mimics now generate Souls equal to 50% (spirit scaling) of the damage it deals

Ability 4 (Ultimate) - Greed:

Skitters has the first fully passive ultimate in the game, which passively increases his souls income from all sources by a flat amount. It allows Skitters to either be played defensively or offensively on the map, by either further increasing the souls difference between the teams, or by making up for the lost souls in the late game from turning his side's sinners into mimics.

For every 200 Souls Skitter's collects, he gains an additional 10 (+ Magazine Size) souls

- Diviner's Kevlar is incompatable with Skitters similar to pocket's ult with many item procs

T1 Upgrade: increased to +15 per 200 Souls
T2: Items from the shop are now 100 (Spirit Scailing) Souls cheaper
T3: These effects apply to your whole team (dependant on balancing can be excluded to people within kill assist range)

Some Fun Interactions with heroes:

  • Lash: Both Skitters and lash speak in the third person, which makes lash think he's copying him
  • Curiosity shop: There's a lot of fun to have with the shop voice lines when Skitters disables it
  • Rem: Given their similarities and way of speaking a comical conversation would be fun, about something arbitrary like hats
  • Bebop: Skitters couldve supplied shelly with some of his parts a long time ago
