[Hero Concept] Fossor, The Cryptkeeper | Summoner/Conversion Hero Concept (+art!)

i think that is a very compelling characteristic about him that reflects more of how he actually feels about the ritual

he is more of a radical type of character who believes that if one wants peace, there must first be war, but the problem is that he wants peace through any desperate means possible, so it will definitely feel that he is manipulating soldiers because he believes that it is for the greater good

actually, i wanted to represent this more with writings on his body; one particular that i was not able to show here was one on his back that says "SI VIS PACEM, PARA BELLUM"

i don't believe he is doing it selfishly, but it is definitely still as bad as how the patrons do it, or so i like to believe. i think that says a lot about his character

Whole character looks fantastic and I enjoy your writing.

Do you have ideas on how he'd interact with other characters?
oh, absolutely, i just never had the time to make any actual voicelines between the characters because i don't want to misinterpret their depictions

i do have some ideas regarding:

original roster:
Bebop:
because fossor lived a very isolated last few years of his life, he has some fear of technology, and seeing that bebop has a gigantic death ray, he'd be a bit concerned and ask about his creator, assuming it's some wicked war criminal like fairfax, only that apparently she's just an old lady, in which case he responds apologetically

Drifter:
something something fossor not being aware of drifter being a literal murder hobo so he ends up being oddly nice to him without knowing he straight up skins people or something. drifter being drifter he doesn't tell him at all because he probably finds it amusing

Dynamo:
i think he would be okay with dynamo, but unlike him who still wants his body back, fossor has completely accepted that this will be his fate for the rest of time, which may give the professor some 'enlightenment' (badum tss)

i was thinking he could probably have an interaction with him wherein dynamo confides in his presence for 'not having a body of his own', wherein fossor replies that his body is 'right there with him', leaving dynamo in a bit of an awkward position lol

Grey Talon:
i think it was already obvious from the interaction, but fossor respects his elders a lot, so although he might come off like he's patronizing GT, he genuinely wants to be able to give him a peaceful passing, although GT probably just tells him to lock tf in

Kelvin:
from the small bits i've read, kelvin is supposed to be a revenant or wight trying to find out what happened to him due to his amnesia. i think fossor would applaud his determination but try to tell him that it might be for the best he doesn't find out, considering he himself died with a lot of regrets

Lash:
funny but i think he likes lash's confidence in himself and wishes he had the same. i think he has some sort of heightened empathy to realize his facade, but never calls it out directly and tries to just keep him from doing something stupid. like a distantly supportive father figure

McGinnis:
hate HATEE HATE HATE HATE HATE

Pocket:
pocket's assassination was the entire reason fossor stood up and finally said something about fairfax, so them being alive means a lot to him. he would try to ask about them and their views on their father to try to give the poor kid some comfort but i don't think pocket likes talking about it

Seven:
genuine horror, in contrast to kelvin, his determination is directed towards his own apotheosis. he only hopes he doesn't kill everyone in NYC, but he does mention he's indifferent to killing

Viscous:
what the ....cube

updated roster:
Graves:
since she's much younger, fossor might come off a bit patronizing as he feels some sort of dread with her lich hand and her apparent ability to resurrect the dead as he'd try to tell her to put it at arm's reach (hehe)

Venator:
venator i've thought about for a while because i think fossor went through a religious upbringing, until eventually being agnostic in his final times at his cemetery due to his slowly dwindling faith in a 'proper' afterlife

an interaction i've had in mind was fossor asking for an impromptu confessional and confessing to venator his deep fear of the patrons not granting his wish, where venator reassures him that they will (considering he's out to kill them)

fan concepts:
Lucian Fairfax:
i really love the author's concepts, but the one that struck me the most was lucian, considering he seems to want to be the true heir to fairfax's wealth and power.

fossor, obviously, would absolutely not want this to happen and will try to tell him that he's on the wrong path and forcefully try to make him feel some sort of regret, in contrast to mcginnis who he believes has strayed too far already

Now that we have a character who summons their own minions and Rem who does something kiiind of similar. I think the design space showcased here is actually more interesting now we know how valve has attempted it. I love the way you play with minions and giving them percentage attributes is awesome.

Im kind of confused by your wording, do the creeps you can enchant include troopers or just denizens?

I think enchanting creeps is fun but maybe turning troopers would be even cooler. I build specific items for movespeed so my troopers run at mach 10 down their lane and I see across the map that theyve just collided with the enemy wave: so I heavy melee the air so that the troopers there mimic me and destroy the wave. Thats sounds offbeat and fun.

That being said now that Rem has something similar the neutral creep angle is way more unique. The issue like always with minion stuff is pathfinding. How do they follow you, where do they go and what do they target? Graves' zombies just follow the janky trooper pathfinding and bomb it down lanes, would that the same for your character or do they follow you around instead?
