Abilities
1. Unleash Spirits
Voiceline "Pocket Hittites!"
Pick a spot on the ground within 15 meters to throw a breakable jar which will release continual spirits which hunt down enemies within a targeting range. They disappear after 2 seconds of not following a target. One spirit is released per second (including second 0 so 6 spirits total at base).
Cooldown 40s
Targeting range 10 meters (scales 0.02 with spirit)
Follow Speed 7.5 meters per second (scales 0.02 with spirit)
Duration 5 seconds
Damage 60 (scales 0.35 with spirit)
Upgrade 1. -15s cooldown.
Upgrade 2. Spirit scaling for targeting range, follow speed, and damage doubled.
Upgrade 3. Release Rate decreased to 0.7 seconds per spirit. Removes 1 stamina on hit.
2. Expedition
Voiceline "Going on an adventure!"
Cooldown 40s
Duration 5 seconds
+2 movement speed and you can run up walls and over obstacles.
15% of the damage dealt to you is returned as Spirit damage. Scales 0.07% with spirit.
Upgrade 1. +1 movement speed, +1s duration.
Upgrade 2. -12s cooldown.
Upgrade 3. +10% of damage received. You heal half of the Spirit damage dealt.
Mummy scroll was not a very engaging/ interactive ability. Expedition combines mummy scroll with your mobility option and has better flavor overall.
3. Unearth
Voiceline "What a find!"
Passively activates.
Every 40 seconds uncover a treasure. Treasures are bridge buffs with 50% power. They can only be broken by you. They pop up where you're standing.
When a treasure is uncovered it deals 100 Spirit damage in a 5 meter radius circle and knocks enemies back 10 meters. Scales 1.5 damage with spirit.
The treasures show up in a specific order: vitality, weapon, movement, casting.
Buff duration 30s, scales 0.2s with spirit. Treasures last for 15 seconds of not grabbed.
Upgrade 1. When you or a teammate grab a bridge buff it leaves behind a treasure which lasts for 90s.
Upgrade 2. Cooldown -10 seconds.
Upgrade 3. Treasure strength 75% of bridge buff.
I didn't like how you had to activate an ability on cooldown to get full use of your buffs. This turns it into a passive and makes it a little more flavorful.
4. Apocalypse Idol
Voiceline "The end is coming!"
Cooldown 150s.
Safe zone radius 10 meters. Doesn't scale with ability range.
Marking range radius 20 meters.
Duration 3.5s.
All enemies within 30 meters are marked for the apocalypse. They take 30dps (scales 0.8 with spirit) while outside the safe zone, and at the end of the duration, anyone marked who is outside of the safe zone takes 50% of their maximum hp in damage.
Upgrade 1. You have +30% lifesteal against marked targets.
Upgrade 2. cooldown -30s.
Upgrade 3. Marking range +10 meters. Duration+1.5s.
All my versions of Archaeologist's ultimate in the past were functionally similar to Pocket ult in that they made someone you want to chase down that is weakened. Apocalypse Idol has entirely different functionality than every other ult in the game. While most ults make you want to run away Apocalypse Idol makes you need to run in and group up with everyone else hit. This can combo well with abilities that want the enemies grouped up.
