Game crashes when joining party

This started yesterday, and its annoying me so much I made a forum account. Whether I invite them or they invite me i crash the instant I join a party. It also closes my steam client altogether, for some reason. I'm on linux mint, if that's relevant at all

I have the exact same issue on mint too, it completely closes steam. Were you able to play multiplayer fine before the recent updates or no?

Before the post-Graves updates, crashes weren't so frequent, now i crash twice in the middle of my games for no apparent reason. really upsetting

This is getting frustrating. I want to be able to play with my friends. Valve please do something !

That's right, all this yapping about Linux support but there's tons of issue with deadlock on proton.

UPDATE: I fixed this by disabling the "Open mic (party)" option. Yayy!! Please fix it.
