Game crashes, sometimes with Steam, when switching keyboard layout

Playing on Debian testing, 3090 Ti, 128 GB RAM, I use Awesome WM and no DE, I have two keyboard layouts, English and Russian, the switch is bound to Caps Lock. I noticed the game crashes quite often (but not always!) if I press Caps Lock, sometimes to answer in the chat or just accidentally hit it while in a fight. Sometimes Steam itself also goes down and I have to relaunch both. There are no relevant errors in ~/.xsession-errors and dmesg so I'm unsure how to help more. Hopefully the game and Steam send dumps or backtraces on crash.

The game has also been crashing for me when I accidentally press Caps Lock. It seems to always happen once near the beginning of the game when I play with a party, and usually doesn't happen when I solo queue. When I play with a party, I'm always also using discord via firefox for voice chat.

I'm reporting now because I just had a game where this Caps Lock-triggered crash happened, but this time when I relaunched deadlock, rejoined the game, and unpaused it, I got a new crash with a message (Match 37799140, time 4:07, see attached screenshot).

I'm playing on Linux (NixOS 24.11 and 25.05) via Proton (9.0-4), use xmonad with no desktop environment, and almost always have my caps lock key disabled while playing (via `setxkbmap -option "caps:none"`).

I've been playing without disabling my Caps Lock key, and I haven't had a crash since

i almost always crash when i try and use the party voicehat keybind. i am also on linux

Party voicechat crashes steam itself, not just the game. It doesn't happen every time but often enough to never use this feature.
