I really want a friends of humanity character for the interactions they would have with other characters, so i made this concept. This is Matthias, the Witchfinder.
Lore:
Matthias was once a chief factory engineer, trying to make a stable life for himself and his family. When the maelstrom happened, his orderly world shattered. No longer were things created by purely human ingenuity, but instead some other force humans were merely playthings to. He watched the news daily as the people of his country were subjected to magical horrors. Powers that humanity had no reason to be playing with were causing unprompted mayhem.
Searching for a way to stop this madness, he came upon the Friends of Humanity. They wanted an end to this madness, for magic to be stripped from humanity, and for these powers to be reeled in, if not removed from this world entirely. Matthias was enamoured by the organizations drive to stop these events from happening. He joined immediately, helping however he could. He was eventually brought in on a secret, a better way to fight this mayhem then just protesting. He was told about plots to further their agenda underground, a way to bring the fight to their enemies. Matthias immediately signed up for this underground fighting force. During his time in this secret group, he made a name for himself with his ingenuity. Metal shaped into points to slow a pursuit, chains to hold down their enemy, searing bullets to mark his targets, and a special concoction to silence a mystic before they could speak.
During his time with the group in new york, he learned there was a great evil that could cause unknown mayhem, but could also grant a wish. Conflicted, he decided it was worth the price to consort with evil to bring about the end of this era. He called to the patron, with a snakelike tongue and his fingers crossed, to remove the very source of power the patron pulls from.
Abilities:
1 - Caltrops: Throw down some caltrops. Walking over these applies a dot, during which you have reduced dash speed.
2 - Chaining Irons: Fire a chain from your gun, latching onto the first target hit. deals dot damage and slows. When the enemy moves 10m from matthias, the chain snaps, dealing burst damage.
3 - Heretics mark: Passive. Applies a mark to an enemy, causing them to take increased gun damage, and applies a burst of damage if they cast a spell while the mark is applied.
4 - Scorched Earth: Throw a bomb that explodes in a large aoe, silencing nearby enemies and applying a dot.
