Feng Wha the Phoenix

There used to be a legend about a mythical fire bird that could heal others, burn its foes, and resurrect itself from the ashes. However while most know this story about the phoenix, those that know more know that the phoenix can bestow these boons upon others. But while that used to be legends back then, now its reality with the opening of the astral gates.

Feng Wha was a famous performer/dancer at the theater in New York, using her majestic coloration and wings to wow onlookers with her graceful motions. However one day what people thought might've just been a bird creature suddenly became legend as a stage light fell on her during a performance with her turning to ash, then rising up much like the bird of legend. However this show was often frequented by people of many avenues and ways of life, including those that knew the legends of old.

Seeing what was now an actual phoenix in the flesh and seeing that the legends might be true, Feng soon found herself on the run from many that would seek the effective immortality she brings. As such she has had to learn to channel her powers to defend herself, laying down her feathers to entice would be pursuers into thinking they hit the jackpot before things blew up in their face to then burn them. However the power of the phoenix is made more to help than to harm, so this was effective to dissuade a pursuer from time to time, but more power would be needed.

She then heard of the Ritual, and the power she could gain from it. The Patrons could amplify her phoenix powers to the absolute maximum, and allow her to incinerate any who would dare pursue her letting her live a relatively normal life knowing those with great interest (insert a crime lord here, Farfax, or someone else.) would be nothing but ash before her.

Light melee
A whack with her wing.

Heavy Melee
A strike with her talon (feet).

Ability 1. Phoenix Fire
A cone of fire that damages foes and heals allies.

Ability 2. Phoenix Down
A: A land mine that will eventually go invisible. Can be shot or meleed to disable. If an enemy steps over it, they'll take damage and be revealed.

B: Feng throws a feather at a location that will heal allies and deal damage to enemies in a large AoE. Can be heavy meleed to destroy it.

Ability 3. Fly
A movement ability that allows Feng to move in any direction while its active much like a magic carpet for a short time.

Ability 4. Resurrection.
An ult that can only be cast on allies or Feng herself. It will resurrect that ally or Feng in a grand fiery explosion that deals damage. (And at max rank, healing?) Unlike victors, this will resurrect someone who died, so they may die again and be worth even more souls.

Another idea for her ult would be...

Flames of Rebirth
A large heal over time is placed on the target. If they die while having this heal on them, they will be resurrected after a few seconds letting out a firey explosion at their point of rebirth. After which the buff will expire. Can be cast on self.

A few lines I came up with for how this hero would interact with others. Being a high end dancer, and in a state of sheer survival, they'd have very compromised morals for what would essentially in normal circumstances be a good person.

Initially being a high class dancer, she will have friendly or be outright friends with people that run the establishments she would preform at such as Doorman. Feng knowing about his true nature due to constantly performing at the Baroness and being in constant contact with him. (And her phoenix nature allowing her to see what he truely is, as a phoenix can do.) and the two being friends. It would also go a long way to helping Doorman have more personal relationships as well with other playable characters. I could see a game start conversation with them going like this...

Feng: "The Doorman. I'm glad to see you here at the ritual."

Doorman "I heard about those thugs keeping you on the run. I assume you're here to... deal with that nasty business?"

Feng: "Indeed, and with you here I feel much more confident in the ritual succeeding. They have no idea who these vagabonds are messing with."

Doorman: "No, I don't think they do. And I look forward to seeing their faces."

Feng: "So do I."

Feng: "The Doorman. I'm glad you are here."

Doorman: "I'm glad to be of assistance to one of the few people I can call a friend."

Feng: "Lets show these wretches a 'good time'."

Doorman: "I've prepared a special room at the Baroness for just such an occasion."

Another character that she would be on friendly terms, if not outright friends with could also be Lady Geist, being another member of high society that would normally keep her standards up for beauty. Although in this case, this could be a case of Geist being sympathetic at a fellow soul at their last resort to get their life back on track. I could see a conversation going as follows.

Lady Geist. "Feng Wha, your dress looks horrible. You should get that fixed."

Feng "Yeah. I haven't had a chance though, being on the run. Hopefully after this ritual I can get myself made up proper. I see Oathkeeper's seal isn't doing so hot either."

Lady Geist. "Indeed, it seems we're both at our wits end."

Feng: "Hopefully after we complete the ritual we can get back our lives. I do miss my performances."

Lady Geist: "And I miss watching them. It was one of the few bits of class in this city."

Feng: "And I'd miss one of my favorite gossip buddies if Oathkeeper managed to get free. So lets win this thing."

And then we have her compromised morals which would lead to her working with people she'd normally not wish to be associated with or outright hate. For example, before being chased they would HATE drifter. However being constantly chased she''d grow to appriciate Drifter's skillset if he could be convinced to work with her. Drifter himself not wanting to beef with someone who controls not only fire, but healing fire that could burn him worse than a fire elemental due to his vampiric nature and who could survive his mobo spree. So the two could have very positive reactions for what would be a good aligned and evil aligned character. One of the conversations probably going something like....

Feng - "Drifter, I have a proposition for you should we complete the ritual."

Drifter - "Oh? And what would dat be then?"

Feng - "I would like to hire you to help me eliminate a few dozen goons that have been harassing me for awhile now. Your free to keep their stuff. And I know the perfect way to introduce you and put some fear into their hearts as I do so."

Drifter - "Heh heh. Need me to do your dirty work? You have my attention. How would you go about doin dat though?"

Feng - "Whistles the first few notes of Drifter's own song."

Drifter - "You got yourself a deal."

==Additionally if there was a pve mode and you needed a support that could work with Drifer lore wise, this is a good example of it.==

Although being stuck in a state of "this is probably my last chance", that'd also make her dislike some characters that aren't taking things as seriously as her or have wishes that seem as big as hers. This could make her dislike Ivy, Vyper, Silver, Viscous, Billy, or Paige. While her disliking Vyper, Billy and Silver makes sense, those two being the opposite of her own station in life, her being a nice, if at the end of her rope woman could have her dislike naturally good people or people with low aspirations. Rem could maybe be included in this group, but being another bird, there are more chances of comedy between the two than her acting hostile towards the bundle of fluff.

For an example of an interaction with Paige...

Feng: "Do you know what your getting yourself into miss librarian?"

Paige: "I think so. It can't be any worse than my stories."

Feng: "Stories aren't real life, and heroes don't exist in reality. If you don't put forth your all, many lives will be lost or ruined if this ritual doesn't succeed."

Paige: "I'll try my best!"

Feng: (To herself) "... I'll have to make plans with Krill later for a safehouse..."

A fun interaction could be with Lash. Being a fellow performer, Feng could be one of the few that sees through Jacob's performance and not see him as an asshole. Although she'd more respect him comitting to the bit than actually being a fan of his. It would also be interesting how you come up with the 'lash flirts with girl' lines with her, her knowing the dfference between Lash and Jacob. For an example of a conversation...

Feng: "Jacob..."

Lash "I think you mean the Lash."

Feng "(More firmly) Jacob. I hear Vyper is in town and she is... an incredibly crazy woman. From one performer to another, if you put your all into completing the ritual, I can give you something to keep yourself safe. You know how the crazies can be."

Lash. (Jacob voice)"Yeah... I do. Thanks Feng."

Feng "I think you mean. (immitating lash) ' The Lash appriciates your support.' "

Lash (Lash voice.)"Damn right baby."

Another interaction with her being in survivor mode and running into professionals or legends like Grey Talon, Venator, Abrams, Mo and Krill, or Haze would make her be very friendly or supportive towards them. Either for what they can offer, or their strength in finishing the ritual. Or in Venator's case, being a creature of divine strength and control over divine fire having a kinship with the Father.

Feng "Sounds of her healing fire"

Grey Talon "What was that for?... wait, I feel amazing."

Feng. "If I'm going to have the legendary Grey Talon helping me finish the ritual, I'm going to make sure hes in his prime. They will know true terror and learn not to stand before the man that founded the Baxter Society."

Grey Talon 'Right, its good to know you have my back. Lets do this."

==For Venator==

Feng: "Father, its good to see you here. Its nice to know the Lord has answered my prayers."

Venator: "Aye child. And its good to know you'll have my back."

Feng: "Lets burn them all in holy fire." (Or, put a bible verse here relating to holy fire.)

Venator: "Amen."

==For Abrams==

Abrams: "So, I hear people are after you to."

Feng "Yeah, Some people want to turn me into spicy fried chicken. And I hear people are after your book."

Abrams: "Hopefully after the ritual, neither of us will have to worry about that."

Feng: "Yes. I look forward to the two of us getting our lives back."

==Abrams 2 (Since she might be friends with Lady Geist).==

Feng: "So, you and Lady Geist huh?"

Abrams: "Don't you start too."

Feng: "She isn't as bad as people make her out to be..."

Abrams: "I know you know her, but its not like that pal."

Feng: "Can't blame a lady for trying to get some gossip." (giggles because she knows the reason why the Abrams/Geist rumor exists and what its really about.)

Abrams: "Lets just finish the ritual..."

And one other fun interaction. Since Feng Wha is an asian name, (Based on the name Feng Wheng, the legendary asian phoenix) Feng could speak a little bit of Japanese and be one of the few people who can clap back at Yamato much to her surprise.


Yamato: (In japanese.) "Even if you are a phoenix, you look far too delicate for the battlefield."

Feng: (In English) "I see that look. I can handle myself. The many goons following me can attest to that."

Yamato: (In Japanese) "I doubt they compare to the Seven Moons. But there is no reason talking to you because you can't understand me anyway."

Feng: (in Japanese) "Then show me the strength of the Seven Moons isn't just rumor."

Yamato: (in English) "I apologize. And I will."

There is another interesting take on the phoenix if you need one thats less support based. Apparently the Russian version of the phoenix has all the same powers, but LOVES the idea of the hunt, combat, and all that.
