Corrupted file citadel\pak01.vpk- happens too often and now getting banned for leaving

Problem: Game crashes randomly(mostly after you die as every screenshot i found in the forum is from dead players) and indicates a file gets corrupted mostly "...\game\citadel\pak01.vpk"
Sure no problem lets just try to repair game or relaunch:

Steam does not respond after you try to relaunch game even after 5 mins, at this point i force close the process with task manager and reopen steam and try to repair which then takes alot of time, in some cases i resorted to deleting the file and it is faster to reaquire it then having to scan and repair, this however has not fixed anything and the game crashes constantly.

-Due to all posts saying it was due to ram or actual hardrive/storage solutions being faulty i made sure to run multiple stress tests this morning, everything ran smoothly and no crashes ever, checked crystal mark just in case all 3 of the ssds i used worked fine and are not damaged whatsoever, game crashed after third game and got banned for an hour

Research indicates this has been happening for months atleast since end of June:

and on discord people ask for help with no real solutions confirmed:

Solutions attempted as found in other posts:

-Repair game Via Steam r/ Obviously first thing that was done
- Reinstall game r/ Second solution attempted
-Moved game to a different drive /r Nothing changed game still randomly corrupts
- Lower your ram speed r/ Disabled XMP and have ram at default speed 2667MHz hence not related to ram speed
-Disable any overclocks r/ Did that too(went as far as diabling the autoclock manager in bios) did not help, and game now runs like shit because virtually any new cpu has auto overclocking
-Changed Render API- r/ Crashes in both DX 11 and Vulkan regardless of the render API
-No undervolting or any funny buiseness going on with gpu /r found a post saying this could affect it(pure nonsense as you cant corrupt a file from this but w/e)
PC specs:

The reddit post has an intel i7 so am taking cpu incompatibility out all toguether, same for gpu as others have had this issue with other graphics cards, and Ram frequency seems to vary on all the different posts mine being the lowest and still experiencing the issue

Because it takes atleast 5 minutes to even repair the game as steam takes a massive dump i have started to get banned for "leaving the game" so am here requesting help

Same issue, no solution on my end so far. Running 5800x3d and 3080ti and 32 gigs of ram at 3600mhz. Don't think it's an issue on my end. I think there's genuinely an issue with the vpk in question.

This happens to me every single time since the update. I went through all the same troubleshooting steps as you and I'm completely unable to play the game. When I attempt to Verify integrity it just sits at 0% forever and I have to uninstall.

It doesn't even happen mid-match for me. It's always during the loading screen going into the match, or the moment I load into the lobby/rooftop area.

I have had this error 2 times in 50 hours which has cause me to "abandon" both games. Those would be the only 2 games I have "abandoned" I am worried I will be banned from the playtest as a leaver if this keeps happening...I have a very strong CPU and I can run every game maxed out with no issues.

Same here. Since the latest update my game just crashes constantly, not even especially after dying like OP mentioned. It was actually random but around every 5 minutes

Game crashed at least 5 times in one game and it seems it increasingly got worse every time it crashed (first it simply crashed clean, then my discord also started crashing alongside it everytime it crashed) until i got the same corrupted file error which i am now unable to repair bcs the files verification through steam will never progress.

My rig is way higher than the recommended specs and i havent crashed this badly in any type of game i've been playing on my pc

The same problem since the game went into beta. Only the problem appears immediately when I start the match selection.
I hope they notice this problem.

People who encountered this issue in Counter Strike found lowering their ram frequency fixed the issue. Its a pretty crappy workaround, but seems worth trying if you're encountering this constantly

I think the best solution would be if the developers solve this problem right away, so as not to resort to it again, since this problem is not unique to individuals. I noticed the same problem in Dota, but it happened maybe 2 times in my entire life.

I think its related to cpu power states. Somehow there are issues with certain RAM (Speed)- CPU combiniations. As one exist the loading phase, the cpu switches to a higher frequency, and this might cause issues with overclocked RAM. This either corrups memory directly or somehow the source engine misinterprets something as a memory error where everything was actually all right.

Just happened to me as well. Getting ban for this feels so bad. If they can't fix it, they really need to have some kind of crash report/upload mechanism like some other games that can tie into and mitigate the ban penalty. Seems like ban length escalates even with sizeable gap between "abandons". I had a "leave" due to crash a week ago that seemed to lead to 5 minute queue lockout. Most recent one was 30 minutes. If it keeps escalating from bug crash, it's going to make me very very sad.

I am also having this issue. R5 7600X, 32gb 6000mhz ddr5, rx 7800 xt. Tried on 24.5.1 and 24.9.1 drivers. Running stock on 23H2. Had my first queue cooldown because of this.

After getting this crash for a while, I stopped playing deadlock and tried another game, which, to my surprise, also crashed. I narrowed the problem down to my RAM having some corrupted sectors. I ran a memory test and confirmed it. I replaced both sticks of RAM and have not crashed after ~10 hours of playtime, when before, I was crashing roughly every 2-5 minutes.

I have a friend who played with me having the same problem. Just happpened last night. Steam refused to repair or just stuck in scanning the drive so he had to delete the game and re-download it every time. Happened twice now I think.
It didnt happen to me in deadlock but it happened once in cs2 after they updated the game to source 2 engine, game said vertigo map file was corrupted and I had to go through the redownload shit as well.
