Coat of Contempt (Active): Drape yourself in a raincoat that reduces all incoming spirit damage by a flat amount. (Does not apply to self-damage)
It occured to me recently that, although we have access to items which block burst spirit damage, there are no items geared towards reducing damage-over-time effects. Although dispel magic can remove DOT status effects, DOT environmental effects, such as kudzu bomb, are unaffected.
An active item that reduces the damage of all spirit attacks by a flat numerical ammount would (-5 damage), rather than a percentage (-5% damage), would allow players to counterbuild against enemies that deal DOT spirit damage, such as Victor, Ivy, Paige, and Geist. For example, with such an effect, one instance of 200 damage would be reduced to 195, while 20 instances of 10 damage would deal only 100 damage, or 5 damage per tick.
I propose that such an item could be an active item that applies its damage reduction over a limited time, so that players who buy it have to choose when they want to wade into a DOT field, and players whose builds rely on DOT damage can still play the game.
