Charged, but not charged abilities idea. Assasinate as an example.

Assasinate is used as an example, but really the ability can have any effect you want. The idea is having charges on an ability that uses them ALL in one press. Each charge that was used gives bonuses. If you go to the extreme you can even change ability behaviour depending on how many charges were spent(adding extra effects)

I've incorporated using two charges at once in a couple of my characters. The reason I wouldn't go more than that is that either the charges become too powerful used together, or they become so inefficient used together that using more than one charge at a time is depressing.

Huh, must have missed it in your posts. Will check it out. And i think you can balance it in a way.

Conundrum and the Orangutan are the two who have multiple charge usage.

I think if you give the option to use less charges than any number of charges can work. So say you hold down the ability and for every 0.2 seconds you hold it down it uses another charge, and it gains unique traits with further charges.

I actually had an idea on how to make this work. Make it so you need to do something in order to gain charges, instead of just waiting. Like wrecker used to work and wraith works now. Making a defensive spell that gains charges when you take damage and becomes stronger with the amount of charges seems fun.
