Boomerang - 1600 Gun item

ALL NUMBERS ARE JUST TO GET AN IDEA ACROSS I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THE NUMBERS WOULD BE TO ACTUALLY MAKE THE ITEM FIT PROPERLY.

Throw a boomerang that goes out a distance before trying to return, I was imagining something around 60 meters. The boomerang travels with slight directional influence from your movement (Similar to holiday barrel. Could be ult cast to always fire straight.) Upon hitting a wall, the boomerang immediately returns, reflecting at the point of collision and combining its velocity components for a potential speed increase.

Key concepts
  • Low-Medium damage with bullet scaling.
  • 12-ish second cooldown.
  • If you catch the boomerang on the return it reduces its own cooldown by 2 seconds and grants an 8% bullet buff for 7 seconds.
  • Counts as a bullet and is affected by other items that modify bullet properties such as high velocity and armor piercing along with their flipsides like metalskin and return fire (though not things like split shot.)
Rationale: Gives gun characters more skill expression when fighting early game outside their abilities and gun (not to say there isn't plenty of expression just thought it could provide more.) I play Sinclair and doing complex shots with bolt is a great feeling that an item that does more for the gun category could benefit from.

Synergies:
  • Counting as a bullet could benefit characters with a slower fire rate in applying debuffs (ex: Silver, Shiv, Mirage (a little)).
  • Also gives more of a medium ranged option to shorter range gun characters (seeing a silver stuck in wolf form not being able to shoot at someone on zip line hurts).
  • Transcendent Cooldown brings the cooldown to 9s and with catch reduces the cooldown to 7s which aligns with the gun buff. I was mixed on what the buff should be between fire rate and bullet damage and if it should scale, but that's up to debate.

Interesting trend design to present to make more gun heroes feel more spell-oriented (or even just give another button to press for spirit heroes for some nice hybrid damage)

It could be pretty cool considering most gun-related items are some sort of buff or passive ATM. (Fury Trance, Blood Tribute, Fleetfoot, etc. etc.)9999

Maybe this could be re-tooled as another potential upgrade for high velocity rounds? (T2/3)

I like the idea of the buff potentially being more movement-oriented (movement speed/no shooting penalty like fleetfoot or surge of power/stamina) to reward the player for going out of their way to catching it but that's just my opinion.
