Banned for canceling match making

I was just banned for 6 hours after my queue time got up to 10 minutes so I tried to cancel the matchmaking and start it again but it would not cancel so I restarted my game and when I got back on I had a hefty ban of 6 hours. I checked my game log to see if I had been placed into a match and accidentally had left while joining but I don't have any games played today. 6 hours for something out of my control like this is very extreme.
