Banned for Abandoning w/o Getting in Game

I queued for Street Brawl before going to Explore NYC to look at the new map. Without ever being placed in a game I returned to the main menu about 10 minutes later to find myself banned for 24 hours and placed in Low Prio Queue. I sometimes have internet issues that have led me to abandon games when my ping becomes unplayable, including within the last 48 hours, so I understand there was likely buildup to this ban but in this instance I never even got the opportunity to join a game. Now I'm banned from playing until after the new hero comes out. I don't really expect anything to be done to fix it but this is incredibly annoying. My other bans for previous issues make sense, but this time there was no indication I was having internet issues and I never even was placed in a game.
