Falsely banned back in 2024, still no resolution

I got banned back in september or maybe august of 2024. Since then, whenever I try to queue I am greeted with the message:

"you have been permanently banned from this mode"

When it happened I tried to post online to get some resolution but got nothing. Eventually I just assumed that I was banned because I had left a few matches, but more recently I learned that people haven't been perma banned from leaving, so I figured it had to have been a false ban. Since then I've tried posting on discord, reddit, and messaging ppl to try to get a resolution, or atleast get a reason for why I was banned, but I haven't gotten any response. I should also mention that I first noticed the ban when I tried to play the game for the first time after moving into my college dorm, so perhaps that might be related to the ban, since I wasn't banned when I played the game a few days before then at home. And prior to that I never recieved any temp bans or anything of that nature.

If any valve dev or moderator sees this I would really appreciate getting an explanation for this. If I truly was banned for leaving, then I will be content with my ban, but I never got any explanation or warning for my ban, it just happened. I have never cheated in any game, I rarely spoke in comms and was never toxic in the playtest.

In a similar position as you. Was banned in August of 2024, and still am somewhat uncertain as to why.

Not to say that there aren't potential causes, I had a hardware issue which caused my wifi connection to drop at random which led to temporary matchmaking bans though if what you're saying about leaving not leading to permas is true then it couldn't have been that.

There was also the last match I remember playing where my team flamed me really hard and said I was throwing, and I admittedly acted like a jackass and made a sarcastic comment along the lines of "showing them what actually throwing looked like," before promptly leaving the match and cooling off. Which was admittedly extremely childish and certainly would've looked bad out of context though it felt pretty tame compared to a lot of people who I've seen be far more toxic and not get the hammer dropped on them.

The only other reason I can think of is that apparently if you reported too frequently and they found those reports to be inaccurate you'd apparently catch a ban. So if you did use the report function regularly that may have been it.

Now I thought my reports were fairly accurate though admittedly too much time playing TF2 may have made me a little too quick to assume someone was cheating due to past experiences, but again at the time it seemed pretty far from egregious and even seemed like the right thing to do.

Of course if Valve thought that based on whatever data they got that I had it coming then I suppose I did as much of a bummer as that as. I know I'm certainly not owed an explanation. Even so, similar to you, I'd just really appreciate some kind of elaboration on the  Why behind the ban so I can just take my licks and move on, and maybe eventually make some kind of appeal down the line.

Unfortunately I've never seen them respond to any sort of post like this, I've been checking for the past year and a half because the game does seem really amazing, and if I could get a second chance it'd mean a lot though at this rate it's seeming sort of hopeless. However fingers crossed that you get a response I'm rooting for you!

Hope you also get pardoned

To my knowledge, i never see a lot of unbans or pardons being given out, but i hope everyone here gets unbanned eventually. I guess its just not something they focus on.

I've done some looking around the forums and seen so many people banned for crashing and I've yet to see a dev or anyone besides other users respond sharing their own stories. Hope yours gets resolved.
