Bad Matchmaking Thread

I keep being put in matches where lanes get steamrolled and fed on one side. I have been trying to get in emissary for a while but I've been hard stuck ritualist for quite some time.

insane draft diff, i feel like most of these bad matchmaking complaints wouldn't exist if a draft system was added because majority of the time it is a draft diff and not a player diff. feels bad to have a game lost at the loading screen and its not even any of my teammates fault, yoshi pls.

Completely inexcusable matchmaking.

Three players with sub-20k player damage in THIRTY-SEVEN MINUTES and less than 2.2k Objective damage COMBINED.

Having a lane go 0-Infinity every match to decide the outcome by 10-15 minutes is getting so old. It's clear when one team is objectively favored to win solely due to an absurd skill disparity with 2-3 people being shoved into a lobby that's out of their personal bandwidth.

I quickly made this visual using Statlocker. I understand/acknowledge the ranks might be inaccurate.
I want you to genuinely look me in the eyes and tell me that these teams were fairly balanced just because of the team averages matching.

I had to deal with the Emissary Kelvin on the other team obsessively shittalk me and constantly make spelling errors with an AI-generated profile picture while trying to make me feel like shit because I was complaining in the chat.

The Calico was on a blatant alt account. The Drifter was on a blatant alt account. Low level accounts, most information privated/blank, only owns Deadlock, etc.

I have not had matchmaking this bad in ages. Holy actual fuck.

It's worse than you can imagine due to grouping. I find it hilarious Valve is actively blocking the ability to see groups on tracking sites because they know just how badly the system is being abused.

Game tilted extremely lopsided. But I don't think it was mainly due to player skill levels mismatch, rather it seems like the matchmaking made a really bad job at matching up team comps.

They ended up with 3 gun damage carries and 3 support. Our side had 2 which could be support but both also doesn't really fall squarely in that role, and there where other roles needed to be filled maybe more.

Match ended up extremely lopsided because Mo, Dynamo and Ivy all denied our team from being able to do anything and where tough to kill, until their gun heroes then took over mid game and we where unable to do anything to flip it at that point.

At this point I’m honestly struggling to see how a new player is supposed to get into this game at all. Trying to learn the core game feels almost pointless when most matches are completely onesided either you get stomped by players clearly way above your level, or you roll the enemy team just as hard. There’s almost never an actual, competitive game in between.

I’m not talking about being slightly outmatched in your lane where it feels impossible to gain a lead. I mean games where one player is so far ahead that the rest of the lobby might as well not exist. For example:

This game was effectively over in ~20 minutes. One player went 16–3 massive lead going around getting everyone else fed as well resulting in our apollo disconnecting and sparing us the 45 minute base rape fest for once.

Queued with a friend who just started the game, and we ran into someone who ended 36/7 with 72k souls while everyone else was around 20-30k. Watching the replay, they’re playing at a completely different level perfect map movement, hitting everything, confidently diving multiple players. Whether it’s smurfing or just matchmaking failing, the result is the same: new players don’t stand a chance.

And that’s really the core issue. In Initiate/Seeker, you constantly run into accounts that look like smurfs. Fresh profiles lvl 0 or in general low level profiles with 1-5 friends and "one stop shopper tag" but clearly experienced players. Maybe not all of them are, but enough are that it completely warps the experience.

Because of that, new players never actually get to learn or even play. You don’t get to practice basics, understand heroes or improv you just get run over. I’ve already had most of my friends quit, and the one left refuses to queue anything except Street Brawl because the main mode feels like you are there to entertain a veteran on his 5th smurf account of the week not to play or learn.
What makes it worse is the lack of a surrender option. When a game is clearly over (like 50k+ leads, base open for 10–15 minutes) you’re forced to sit through it while the winning team drags it out as long as possible. Why would they end it if they just farm as much kills and feel like a god gamer for as long as possible...

This is how all Valve games are unfortunately. They don't moderate their games. Smurfs, cheaters, griefers, account buyers/sellers, etc. will be in most lobbies.

Valve has the money and resources to make their games more enjoyable for legit players, but they don't because they simply do not care.

Just a lack of synergy in the team and felt like a draft difference. Them having the best M1 heroes, frontliners, pick heroes and our team having 5 squishy m1 heroes with 1 support felt a bit meh.

Whenever I play solo (seeker 3) I get teammates way inferior to me, whenever I play with a friend (ritualist) we get teammates that are just new or straight up feed it.

Several people on the hidden king team were extremely misplaced compared to opponents. I mean they seemed like they were still figuring out the basics of the game while the enemies played like they had 100+ games (which seems appropriate for the rank) and knew what was going on. Very unbalanced matchmaking.

Felt like the match was just... a steamroll due to Haze. Nobody listening to comms and them having so many better heroes for contesting mid and doing anything.

Also, Ascendant V lobby. Yesterday I was in an Eternus 6 lobby. I wish Mathcmaking would stop being so all over the damn place.

Not only was it another Ascendant 5 lobby, the enemy team had just a 1000% better draft with Mirage, Lady Geist, Dynamo... just in general felt like it wasn't winnable at all, especially since many on our team didn't perform well.

But my biggest complaint is 1000% why am I being put in so many different lobbies? There's over one (!) rank variant in my lobbies and it just feels so bad. The tempo between Ascendant 5 and Eternus 6 is just so damn different, and it's just not fun to be thrown around like this at all. I just want to be placed in lobbies that corresponds to my rank (Eternus 4 at the moment) and have a fair chance of getting better; not being placed in absolute stomps or steamrolls all the time.
