Bad Matchmaking Thread

While matchmaking is far from perfect, I think you should really focus on your gameplay. I watched the first 10 mins of the first game and you have a lot of basics you can work on to carry games and make the games lean in your favor. KDA is not the end all be all of this game, you win by pushing lanes and taking objectives better than the other team.

In just the first 3 minutes of the game, you could have had better buying, lane pressure, and taken space more aggressively. For example, after the first wave, you should have enough souls to buy your first item and in most cases you should go buy ASAP to become more powerful. You did not buy a single item in that game until over 4 minutes in. That can be fine if you are hard winning the lane and bullying them but when it is not an easy win, go use your souls to get an advantage. You were the only person in the lobby without an item for awhile.

Another note, you are hesitant to fire your gun randomly, you move back to your guardian without cause and then move forward again, giving up your space advantage without them having to take it from you. You are slow to secure souls or to try and deny them. You also miss your powerslash 9/10 times because you try to split the difference between two targets or they are too far away. Then you go back to base when you are 1/2 hp instead of trying to kill the heal minion and save your tower. You just give up your lane for free.

In general, your early game can help snowball the rest of the match, but it does not mean you will win either. I would suggest starting with getting better at the basics of movement, aim, ability usage, item buying (including learning to queue and quick buy items and not waiting until you can buy 2-3 items at a time), and getting lane prio. Yamato can be a bully, you just need to learn how to use her better and you will win more games.

Remember, you are the common denominator of your games and you can make more of an impact with better macro/micro and mechanics. This is not even me trying to say you are bad or anything, but you hold more power than you might think, it just takes practice and work. Watch content on how to improve from people like Deathy, Eskay, PoshyPop, or Eido... then focus on one or two things at a time. Maybe focus one day on hitting your abilities more intentionally/accurately and taking camps/boxes after you clear the wave or have prio. Those are very important in the early game, not just mid.

Blaming your team will not help you get out of seeker lobbies and the matchmaking is bound to be in your favor some of the time too, so you need to look inward a bit more as that is the only thing you have control over. The lower level lobbies are the best place to learn those important skills as you are less likely to be punished for not doing them correctly. Focus on learning right now, not winning and I bet you will have better outcomes. And if you can afford a coaching session, it would help too.

Best of luck, you got this!
thanks a lot sometimes i got lucky when gameplay like that i can kill atleast 10-12 per round. i never know my mistake because of that. my instinct told me to farm and get more kill or open the war while my team can clear the rest for me, but that where my mistake is. im always expecting they can cover me and get kills, sometimes it works that's why it became habit. i played yamato because i have options to be assassin who kills low health enemies or be someone who open the war.

i know there are a lot of things to fix in my gameplay such as aim, movement, decision making and farm route. thanks for you to get rid of my arrogance. i was wrong

Thank you Valve for doing nothing about two entire players on my team griefing and even saying so in chat. Super cool. Definitely feels like a game ran by a billion dollar company.

Game's still in early development and is definitely not ready for public access until all this gets ironed out properly. That said, I just stopped thinking about wins in general.
Getting to the top ranks just don't give you any proper benefits. It just says you've been through a lot of matches and got a ton of experience while doing so.
So just have fun and don't think too much about winning. If you've had fun, you won.

Just a super one sided game. Their doorman in particular felt waaaay higher skill than the rest of us. didn't help that our geist only focused on objectives. not a bad thing but it is when the enemy is inside our base.

I was Phantom IV when I queued for this match, my duo (Mirage) claimed he was Phantom 2 so I assume we were close enough in rank that everyone would be in the same league.

As you can see, the vyper went 5/18 and the Kelvin went 1/16. Really felt like the teams were pretty mismatched, felt like there wasn't much I could do to avoid a major loss with this team.

Thank you Devs you guys are cooking up the most amazing game.

wraith playing pve all game alone, ivy is scared of 2v1 lane and still die, mina and paradox competing to see who die more out of laning phase to feed up a mirage. very fun indeed

almost 50 minutes of the most painful gameplay ever. it was fine until the laneing phase ended, because that's when the haze started coming out and insta-melting people in like 3 seconds for the rest of the game.

RELEASE ME FROM MY TORMENT, I'M ONLY SEEKER II

Total pub stomp many enemies admitted to being in ascendant rank while me and many of my other teammates are in arcanist literally could not fight back the game was practically lost the moment it started

What I don't get is that matchmaking was only like 20 sec I would rather wait 5-8min to find a decent game than having to get curb stomped for 40 min just waiting for someone to leave or to lose

This takes the cake for the WORST character matchmaking I've encountered so far. Please give us a draft system.

There is no way this sort of team composition should be allowable with this many characters on the roster.

It was a pure loss from the spawn screen onward.
