Bad Matchmaking Thread

My rank is Ritualist 2 and the rank of my friend with whom I play the game is Archon 2. We both have about 300 hours. One of the two people who joined our team (Vyper and Ivy) is playing the game for the first time and therefore an extraordinary feed. Both of them has just started playing and this is their second game or something.
As Ritualists and Archons who have played the game for around 300 hours, why do we play with players who are new to the game? Why are players who are new to the game only coming to our team? I don't know if the Deadlock developers are looking at this thread, but it's an insult to the people who put their hours into this game.

Seriously the only thing I've ever wanted was for this game to feel fair! And I'm not even talking about characters or items or whatever, I'm talking about this horrible matchmaking that feels like it was NEVER done right. It doesn't matter if I play alone or if I play with a full lobby, it feels like this game is never truly balanced, there's always someone how's higher or lower than the avarage match that's going on. Fucking hell it's hard to not get mad because I like this game a lot! This could be the most FUN moba I've ever played in my life! But this shit... This shit is not FUN at all.

My friends and me saw the update and started playing. It has been over 20 games (brawl + normal), and we are yet to win one. I've had 1/10 or 1/15 scores on every normal game with my teammates flaming me and telling me to stop playing, while the enemy team has an unkillable heroes with ton of damage jumping around.
Its not even close to being fun... we just stopped playing.

So, what's even the point of this "pity token" for not getting a character you actually want to play when it can just be nulified by someone DCing at game start and causing a cascade.

AND WHY I HAVE TO PLAY WITH ARCHON WHEN IM ASCENDANT ? fr the game quality is so bad thats insane all my game are with people who litteraly discover the game or they have no macro at all
my mate are uncariable every game and i can take 3 walker having more than twice their soul kill dmg they just keep diying in middle of nowhere and end the game in 1 15

I have played this game for 1,045 hours (1,463 matches). I’ve been playing since September 2024. I’ve seen matchmaking in bad states many times, but I have never seen it look as awful as it does now.
So many smurfs are dominating the game, especially with the release of new heroes. It wasn't nearly this bad in the previous big patch. Here is a list of the matches I played in the past two days alone where we lost specifically because of smurfs on the opposing side:

This is getting really frustrating. Many of my friends with significant playtime have simply stopped playing. I know this game is in early development, and I know it's not your top priority, and I know you're getting new players with each big patch, but you're losing your most valuable players. Why should I, with more than 1,000 games, be on the same team as someone with fewer than 100? I would prefer to stay in a queue for 20 minutes for a fair game rather than be in a frustrating one.

54541545 - Fairly even in kills/souls but my team refused to do any pushing. We never got a slot even though we killed their entire team after 20min mark. Everyone went jungle.
54533753 - Graves and Drifter feeding. Doesn't matter how much dmg Drifter does if he keeps dying for the dmg leaving us with fewer players alive all the time.
54347644 - 2nd game ever for Ivy in a Phantom II lobby. Haze feeding. I checked my entire team on statlocker and I was the only one I could see that was even higher than Phantom II. Have no idea how this was average Phantom II game.
54336422 - Victor feeding like crazy, did not care at all, just suicided over and over even when team asked him to stop fighting. Yamato barely any dmg but toxic in chat like he was carrying us while in reality doing nothing.
54311056 - Calico had extremely few games played. Why am I Phantom IV at this game, placed into Archon II? Shiv also solo died fighting in jungle all game.
54296930 - Placed in Archov IV as Phantom IV
54259537 - 68min game because people have no idea how to play the game.
54245576 - Phantom IV placed in Archon V lobby. I think the rest of my team must have been extremely low rank looking at their performance.

I usually main Dynamo, (top 300 NA) and have long felt the game would give me a lane-mate far below my skill level. This last game, my entire team was getting shredded. The enemy was up 80k souls, and mocking us. At the end, the enemy Rem said this was a Phantom lobby (which makes sense because I was currently at Phantom 1, and my lane-mate said he was Ritualist 1. That is 4 Divisions below mine. I have a hard time even wanting to play Dynamo at this point because it happens so often. Feels like the game is desperately trying to keep me close to a 50% win rate, and not in a subtle way. It's painfully obvious sometimes.

Why are new players thrown into Arcanist/Emissary/Oracle and higher lobbies? A lot of new people got a sour taste being flamed and being stomped and stopped playing. It's frustrating for both sides, people with under 10h should not be placed in the same lobbies with people that have 300h+. There is enough of players to balance this out better? I know it's an Alpha, but it's a very popular Alpha, all the people having bad experiences will not be back.

I've gotten 14 in a row before. The matchmaking is complete shit and they just "made updates" and now I am in US getting placed in EU matches and the rank spread is even worse. They have no idea what they are doing.

Still nothing about smurfs and hackers either. Most smurfs and hackers don't even hide it anymore. MM is in a seriously sad state right now. And this thread is exploding and they still aren't doing anything about it.

[10:29 PM]Yoshi: @everyone We just did a matchmaking update to fix a significant issue with how we calculated the mmr and calibration for new and recently returning players. The global rank badge distribution has been adjusted as a result.

They didn't do anything. Just blowing smoke up everyone's asses. Lowkey. They want MM to be this way. No idea why. Bunch of Chuds stuck on DOTA nonsense and can't even give a surrender option either.
