Hi, first of all, thanks for clicking on my post and reading it, I put a lot of effort in and I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Just before you start reading here's a quick rundown:
His kit rewards sticking with allies in teamfights as backline (passive buffs, phalanx shields) but struggles against split-pushers or strong team disrupting abilities like those from Seven. Lore-wise, he’s a tragic figure: a relic clashing with modernity, barking broken English, and trading barbs with OSIC (“Your ‘Senate’ is a joke”).
Aurelius
Aurelius the Eternal
Faction: Unaligned (seeks the Patron’s power to reunite his legion)
Aurelius was once a revered Legate of the Roman empire. He commanded a powerful legion which was seen as one of the most feared cohorts of Rome. When the Maelstrom took place, it created a rift in the spacetime continuum and scattered Aurelius’s Legion across time. He awoke in our timeline in the Cursed Apple, haunted by visions of Rome’s fall and spectral echoes of his soldiers, crying out for his help and command.
He fights for the patrons to free his legion from the Astral Plane and to go back to Rome to try and put a stop to it’s fall. The Patrons’ promise tempts him, but what is the real cost? The Rome he fights for exists only in echoes… but the Legion marches on.
Abilities
Aurelius uses a spear that functions as an extended melee attack with his LMB.
His RMB/Alt-cast throws a spectral spear in an arc trajectory. Spears stick to enemies and fade over time. Order could be reversed, not about this.
Interactions
An important detail about his personality and appearance should be that he feels really out of his time and is at conflict with himself and others because of his background. He comments Latin phrases and chants when activating his abilities in battle and has a broken English sentence structure.
Deadlock is in a dire need of cloaks so I’d love it if he was given a cloak. He should also be wearing Roman gear such as the Galea (Roman feathered helmet).
OSIC/Haze
The OSIC monitors Aurelius closely and labels him “SPQR-09” in their dossier. He is described to be a “temporal anomaly”. When Haze is on the enemy team, she has voice lines expressing the danger of Aurelius traveling back to his time.
Some of the Ixians such as Abrams and Infernus comment on his gear, having seen similar things in Ixian Museums before.
Misc voicelines:
He’s supposed to be a tank/support hybrid that ezcels in grouped teamfights but is weak to split-pushes because isolating allies neuters his passive, shield wall and ult. Some counterplays to him are heroes that have strong area denial such as Seven’s lightning balls or Shiv who can use his ult to bait out Aurelius’s Ult.
Projectiles can still fly above the shield wall, enemies like Vindicta and Talon can use their height advantage to render the defense mostly useless.

- Pilum
Rip lodged javelins from enemies, dealing burst damage and applying an amplifying Bleed per stack.
T2 or T3 upgrade would make this an AoE effect that applies burst damage to surrounding enemies.
- Phalanx
Summon a spectral shield wall in a direction, blocking projectiles (such as silence glyph, Gray Talons owl, etc.) and making allies behind it Untargetable. Enemies crossing the wall are Disrupted. Lasts for ~6s.
- Tribune (Passive)
Per Ally Buff: +10% Soul Gain, +5% Health Regen, and +3% Movement Speed (max 3 stacks). Allies in range gain half the bonuses. Aurelius radiates faint spectral glow to visually signal buff range.
- Legion
Summon spectral legionnaires. Buffs scale with nearby allies:- 1 Ally: +15% Damage Resistance.
- 2 Allies: +10% Lifesteal.
- 3+ Allies: +25% Resistance + 15% Damage Amp
- T3 Upgrade Allies gain a temporary shield that blocks execution effects (e.g., Shiv’s Killing Blow, Vindicta’s Assassinate).

- To Haze: “Your ‘Commission’ would crumble before the Senate.”
