Arcane Surge extra range not working properly with Life Drain cast

If you activate arcane surge and try to cast life drain using the extra 15% range, it will indicate it is possible however using the ability will remove the targeting icon and not attach a tether.

In fact, I don't think it works with anything, it only visually enhances some area effects, but in fact it does nothing

I tested with Geist bomb, the extra range does work, it isn't just visual. I do not know if it is any different with other characters.
