AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT overheats and PC turns off

Fans are on 100%, my PC case has good flow, many fans on it too and this does not happen on other games.

I get insane FPS, in the 300s, but my GPU overheats (100C-110C) on anything above the lowest graphics and the PC turns off. I tried limiting the FPS with V-sync - still overheats. Only on lowest settings does the temperature stay around 70C.

Try to change the thermal paste, since GPU manufactures put dogshit quality on the processing units. Since your PC shuts off maybe the card draws a little too much power, this one could be tweeked by decreasing the max voltage, core and vram frequency

The fans have been tweaked to work at 100% at temps above 80. The PSU is 1 kW, pretty sure it shouldn't be a power issue, and the thermal paste is probably a problem, yeah, but still, this doesn't happen on any other games. Also, the PC shuts off after the GPU reaches these extreme temperatures, so it's probably not a power issue, rather just the temperature protection kicking in.

Since there is no official reply on this thread you could lower the maximum voltage that GPU can draw seems like a working temporary fix, you also can check in event viewer on windows to check the exact reason why your pc is shutting down, event type should be error or critical

It might not happen on other games because they might be less demanding and not utilizing your GPU fully. You should really check your thermal paste, because its probably a cooling problem not a game problem.

Have you tried changing to Vulkan? My GPU hotspot is 10C lower when using Vulkan instead of DX11.

Thank you, all! I changed the thermal paste and now I'm getting temperatures around 25 degrees lower! And the card's also pretty new, is AMD saving that much from this shitty thermal paste. I got it for around 800 bucks, i wouldn't mind paying 810 for them to put normal thermal paste. Eh, it is what it is.

What brand do you use? I'm having the same exact issue and I turned up my fans to 100% but to no avail and shutdowns. I have ASROCK.
