I'm only counting my original heroes, not ones that were remakes of other people's heroes.
Early on when I started playing I wanted a slide based hero, someone who loved to go down long ramps. They came out with vyper, but I've never been a fan. Sliding all the time was not the niche I envisioned. I finally made my version of a slide hero.
My lore idea for him melting is that he's so consumed by hatred that it started breaking down his body and changing him. He can hate Fairfax or another major corp like that.
