I'm not saying that the system is or isn't broken, I'm just saying that changing ranks by doing nothing is entirely possible in many ELO-ish ranking systems.
Oh wow, this is somewhat similar in concept to the 'kid who is cursed to become a classic superhero' idea I had earlier: https://forums.playdeadlock.com/threads/jimmy-the-unwilling-superhero.86681/

Changing ranks by doing nothing is completely normal. Rank is based on ELO (or Glicko, or whatever). You do not know your ELO. It's hidden, you can never see it (in some games you can, like in TF2: ). ELO is based on wins/losses using some complex formulas. Rank is based on ELO by dividing ALL...
You gained ELO (or Glicko or whatever) but lost ranks. Ranks are a (probably) normal distribution based on the distribution of ELOs of ALL players across the ENTIRE game, where your ELO is a hidden number you cannot see that goes up with wins and down with losses. What probably happened is that...
Ranks are distributed (probably) normally based on everyone's ELO, not just yours.
While you were asleep, other people gained ELO, changing the ELO distribution, and hence decreasing your rank (this could also increase it).
When you won four games in a row, others won games and gained ELO as...
Alright, if you hold down M2 with Viscous normally, no items, you get a consistent delay between each shot, and he starts shooting immediately after a reload.
However, if you buy Active Reload, empty your clip, hold M2 during the reload, and hit R with the correct timing (to trigger Active...
For drilling holes you could also make two sets of world portals, and a small 'tunnel' under the map (and then where in said tunnel the connecting portals are placed depends on the thickness of the wall).
Then simply make sure the surrounding visual effects and temporary props are such that...
