Vram memory leak

I have been playing for a couple days on Windows 11. Everything works fine at first, but after a while playing, performance drops severely (10-15 fps).
I have tried to monitor while in a match and I think that it's due to a vram leak. The vram usage keeps going up, and the moment it goes over 8GB (I have a NVIDIA 4060 so 8GB is the limit) performance drops and it doesn't work until I restart the game. After I join again, the same happens after some minutes. I've checked online and it seems that it's not new. Like in this thread for example:

Yup, same issue. Latest nVidia drivers, latest Win11 update, running Vulkan. 1-2 games is all it takes for the game to reach the 8 Gb limit (Laptop RTX 4060). I'm guessing the only reason the game doesn't crash is because by default nVidia drivers can use RAM when running out of vRAM, but it's much-much slower. Still, better than crashing to desktop and receiving a penalty.

The thing that I don't understand is that it doesn't happen to any of my friends. Like, if it was really a vram leak problem, I would expect more people to have this issue, but I'm the only one of my friends that has it. I haven't tested much around but maybe it's due to a specific field in the game config or something. Maybe it's due win11 because honestly, it's garbage. I should try on linux and see how it goes

I did a bit more research and tried resetting the driver while the game is open (Win+Ctrl+Shift+B hotkey combo). Can't be certain that this is "THE FIX" but once I did that and restarted the game to make dGPU drive the display again the game ran well for the remainder of the evening. vRAM didn't go over 5.6-ish Gb and I saw the game clean up vRam to 4.6 Gb before loading up the map every time.

So it's indeed either a driver issue or Win11 issue. At this point both nVidia and Microsoft are fully capable of producing performance-reducing patches.

I tried that but it didn't work for me. I also tried the game on linux (fedora) and it seems to work well there, but the performance overall is significantly worse. I'm not so sure about it being a nvidia's fault because I have seen people with amd cards running into the same issue, but I guess we'll see once the game reaches beta

Yeap. Seems that it was a fluke, can't reproduce this effect anymore.

Judging by other reports, the issue isn't OS-specific and from personal testing it seems to persist on dx11. So, hopefully it will be addressed eventually.

After checking again, I can't really say that amd cards have this issue too, so I guess that nvidia drivers may be the origin of this issue. Once beta realeases, nvidia will probably release a driver update for deadlock, so I guess that all we can do is wait.

im having issues with it as well and i have a 9060xt 16gig, after 2-3 games it maxes out and puts too much pressure on my cpu. Today with celeste its even worse within 20 minutes it caused me to max out on vram and my cpu temps went above 87 which ive never ran into with anything ever. Hope it gets fixed soon was talking to others on the discord seems to be an issues for others as well.

After Celeste's release, the game has gotten downright unplayable. I'm on a 3080ti; no amount of settings tinkering does anything.

There was a Windows update, that claimed to address some kind of full-screen issue in games, but it didn't stop the leak.

I also wanted to check if uninstalling the KB5074109 patch could help, but it's either already uninstalled or there's some other Windows "feature" that prevents removal.

Ran some tests with older nVidia drivers, the ones deemed as the most stable by community (566.33 and 580.88). Didn't resolve the vRam issue. 566.33 introduced stuttering, 580.88 seems to be more stable than 59X drivers, so I'm sticking with them for now.
