VPK Bug - Why am I banned?

Why do we get a ban for a full blown game client crash that doesn't have a fix? When the VPK error occurs, you cannot validate files (the steam client bugs out completely and prevents you from validating files), this requires you find the corrupt VPK file - Delete it - Restart steam (and maybe even your whole computer) and by the time you're able to get back into game, the game has gone into the abandon state.

This should not result in a ban, when the game is in beta & there is no POSSIBLE way for a player to return to the game in a meaningful timeframe.



This is a 2 HOUR ban for something completely outside of my control.

I didn't. I rejoined, and we went on to win. - The game flags it as an abandon due to a technical fault entirely outside of my control. This is not a fair ban for a game in beta. That's the whole point of the forum, to provide this kind of feedback to the developers.

same thing happened to me earlier and by the time i managed to reconnect everyone else had left. i got a 6hr ban for it
gotta be some way for them to detect if that sorta crash happens, because it can take a long time to get back into it.
