Viscous - Puddle Punch - Tankbuster

It seems that currently Tankbuster gets very inconsistent results with Puddle Punch on the trigger rate (see below a picture of my build which is very spirit/melee focused; Edit, do not mind the names of the tiers, as changing my build screwed them over and I have changed them since)

Sometimes I get a trigger when I have Melee charge bonus (7s passive) or a 2 stack of Crushing Firsts (upgrade from Melee Charge), but otherwise it does not trigger. Even when I get a proc of 184/185 spirit damage (+ regular damage of 246). Which is strange as the (spirit?) damage threshold should be 165 - see attached vid for build/souls/etc. --> First hit is below 165 spirit, but above that on the other damage, even when we get above the potential threshold on the spirit side (if this would be the limitation), with 184/185 spirit damage it still does not trigger TB.

Buying even more spirit focused items (i.e. Enchanters Emblem in my build), does give a good trigger rate eventually, but it seems it is more scaled with total spirit power, than just the damage threshold listed on the item).

If we just read the description, just the 'pure damage done by the ability' (i.e. 165 damage) and not the 'spirit infusion', the trigger of this item should theoretically be even way earlier, roughly between 10-12K souls depending on items and once you unlock the lvl5 puddle punch.

It does trigger consistently trigger with splatter, no issues encountered here. (I assume with Ball there will be no issue as there is pure spirit scaling, like splatter, but did not specifically test it for this case)

so not sure if this is intended behavior or a bug, but certainly makes me reconsider when/if to buy it in my build.

I did my experiment, and it just doesn't seem to count the amplified damage. Nothing to do with the punch.

Look at this:

175 and no Tankbuster proc. Because it was < 165 before amplification. So yeah, Spirit Snatch's resist steal amplification is deceiving you.

Curious to see if this is intended behavior? Because I have no spirit items, other than TB, and I do above 165 damage with fist, it also does not proc (see below; edit for some reason I messed up the crop on the image )

So it would seam that damage scaling on the fist (/Melee?) does not trigger TB, while damage scaling on splatter/ball does trigger it (as with the same build as in the picture, TB does trigger on L4 Splatter/Ball)

Probably very much intended with an ambiguous item description. Though, intentionality doesn't matter if things are balanced.

It would be very weird to see Holliday proc the Tankbuster with her Crackshot.

Yeah I guess so too, hope that they either update the description properly, or just make it function as described. Because at higher spirit power it does trigger with the fist (usually on the second hit though)

Counts only spirit damage

Counts only damage before any amps or reductions (spirit damage amps, spirit resist, resist reduction etc)

^These are the intended interactions
