VINNIE "THE VIG" MALONE - THE CARD SHARK

"Vig" is the nickname of the mysterious con artist who makes his living cheating gamblers out of their cash. Whether it's high stakes, official poker games - or a back alley dice game amongst hooligans; Vig is always ready to prove that the house doesn't always win.

WEAPON: Derringer .41 - The easily conceable, snub nosed and double barreled pistol. Usually in .22 caliber, but Vig likes the firepower a .41 caliber provides. Shoots two bullets at once, but has a small magazine capacity.

ABILITIES

1. UP THE ANTE - Vig identifies his mark, a single unit point-cast ability that when casted on a neutral enemy under 50%, doubling the amount of souls received, and when cast on an enemy hero, marks the target, causing Vig to takes less spirit damage from them as well have a percentage increase of spirit damage against said target. Increases souls gained by killing the marked hero before it expires.

Vig knows how to find the perfect mark. Someone who's money is better off in his pocket. - Ability Description

"Empty your pockets, little guy." - Vig when culling a lane minion.
"Shit, you're ugly."- Vig when culling a non t3 jungle creep.
"I'll spend it better, big fella." - Vig when culling a t3 jungle creep.
"Let's up the stakes." - Vig when placing a mark on an enemy hero.
"Cash me out." - Vig when a marked hero is killed.

PASSIVE: Culled Stacks - Each marked enemy killed gives Vig a poker chip, a stack, which reset on death. For every x amount of stacks, Vig gains bonuses.

T4 Chip bonus - Vig steals souls from enemy heroes when he places his mark on them.

T3 Chip Modifier: Marked heroes stay visible on the map until the mark expires.

COMPARISON: Dota 2's Hand of Midas, Dota 2's Bounty Hunter ultimate; "Track", League of Legends' Nasus "Siphoning Strike".

2. WEIGHTED DICE - Vig throws his weighted die with occult twist, the further it travels, the larger it grows, increase the AOE and spirit damage of it's impact, at max range dice knocks the enemy hero down.

"Here we go." - Vig when throwing the dice.
"I didn't even need to blow on it." - Vig when landing a max range Weighted Dice throw.
"Sit down." - Vig when landing a weighted dice throw when the T3 Chip Modifier is active.

T3 Chip Modifier: The weighted die behaves as though it was a max range impact even if it wasn't. (Would visually be the max size die.)

COMPARISON: Overwatch's Sigma stone throw; "Accretion"

3. STEEL TOE STOMP - Vig stomps the ground, causing damage in an small area around him, knocking back enemies and applying a short slow.

"Get off me!" - Vig when stomping his boot.
"You may catch me cheating, but you won't catch me off-guard." - Vig after he lands his stomp on an enemy hero and proceeds to not take hero damage for 5 seconds.

COMPARISON: Dota 2's Primal Beast ult, but single use and for knocking diving enemies back, Reverse Dark Seer vacuum.

T3 Chip Bonus: Unlocks a second cast after the stomp, Hot Exit - When cast Vig springs (akin to a roll dash, but at the cost of no stamina and instant) in whatever direction the player is inputting.

4. POCKET ACES - Vig reveals the stashed pocket aces he has hidden away. Tossing two glowing aces into the air which burst at their apex to reveal a spectral gambling den, filled with the roaming ethereal forms of those who sold their souls to Vig during gambling sessions out of desperation, an AOE zone. Vig "pockets" the Tarot Cards (items) of the enemies in this AOE, silencing all actives and item passives of the enemy heroes inside. Vig and his allies inside the AOE gain the buff "Hot Streak", effects TBD. The roaming, lost souls of Vig's old gambling partners explode on impact when they hit enemy heroes.

"I'm on a HOT STREAK!" - Vig when casting Pocket Aces.
"I want more than your money!" - Vig when casting pocket aces with the T3 Chip modifier active.

T3 Chip Modifier: All enemy heroes inside the AOE are marked with 'Up The Ante' - Lost souls now roam inside the circle instead of just the outskirt of the AOE.

COMPARISON: Dota 2 hero ult mix mash of Muerta's "The Calling" - mixed with Mars ultimate, "Arena of Blood" - mixed with Death Prophet ultimate, "Exorcism".

OTHER POTENTIAL PASSIVE FOR BALANCE:
BOUNDLESS BOUNTY -
Vig never plays it safe. Souls from jungling never become secured. (This will make the incentive to hunt Vig stronger, to both make him lose his stacks, as well as reap the rewards of his jungle souls.

LORE / BACKSTORY

BACKSTORY:

Vinnie "The Vig" Malone has lived in New York City his entire life, never once straying outside of it's boundaries. Growing up an impoverished orphan, Vinnie only ever knew the life of the streets. His intelligence was unmatched by his professors crime lords alike, causing him to bump heads within every avenue of life. Vinny didn't care for power nor did he care to attend some Ivy League school, but he did love money. Vinnie's obsession with money led to a gambling addiction, though that's not how he would describe it. It's only an addiction if you're losing, and Vinnie never loses. People knew Vinnie's aptitude for cheating so well, that it earned him the nickname "The Vig" - a term for the cut the house takes on any bet being placed, as The Vig always got his cut.

His aptitude for taking other people's money spread throughout all the boroughs of New York City. Before long Vig moved onto the larger, high stakes games. From large buy-in games full of rich and gullible yuppies, to gangster infested and mob ran gambling dens, Vig began to rake in cash like he'd never seen before. But now he had learned from his past mistakes, becoming learned in the occult in order to disguise himself from each venue to the next, never revealing his true identity. But all casinos, both legal and illegal, began to feel the financial pain Vig was inflicting on them. Some casinos went bankrupt and closed their doors, others tripled their surveillance, and some unlucky bystanders had their legs broken after being accused of being the mythical "Vig" if their hot streak was a little too hot.

It seemed Vig would never be caught until he met his match within one of Wraith's operations. She had heard the mythical and folksy tales of The Vig, and immediately discerned that he was using occult magics to disguise himself while cheating. Wraith had her cronies draw an occult nullifying sigil beneath the carpet of one of her speakeasy poker tables, and when The Vig took his seat, his true form of Vinnie Malone was revealed.

Instead of having him killed, Wraith had him smacked around and then promptly put to work. He was to become her "eye in the sky" making sure all of her gambling operations were immune to cheaters of all sorts. For some odd years, they had a good relationship. That was until Wraith discovered Vig was siphoning thousands upon thousands of dollars under the table, that is.

The Vig is never satisfied. The money never mattered, either. It was the risk. It was the adrenaline of putting it all on the line. Something even Wraith hadn't foreseen, which spurred her to an anger her closest constituents had never witnessed from her usually calm demeanor. The largest mob affiliated bounty of all time was placed on Vig's head that day, but even now it remains unclaimed, thought it isn't for lack of trying. The legend of The Vig still echoes throughout The Cursed Apple, where Vig still roams, looking to take his cut. Some say his venture into the occult changed him, and he no longer seeks to win your cash, but your soul.

CHARACTER INTERACTIONS AND OTHER BARKS:

Wraith, his biggest rival:

"This is awkward, isn't it Wraith?" - Vig when on the zipline with Wraith at the start of the match.
"I would say sorry... But I'm not." - Vig misc. dialogue when near an ally Wraith.
"Add that to my tab." - Vig after killing an enemy Wraith.
"I bet that makes you real mad, huh?" Vig after shutting down an enemy Wraith.
